Could be your ink cartridge is already dry, its 8 month could make your cartridge to dry out. Or if it is with some print head then it is maybe clogged also.

Instead of using the Letter or factory 8 1/2 x 11 page set up, create a custom page size for 8 1/2x11 and use that in your app for the page set up. Double check your page orientation and the size of the photo you are printing. It sounds like it may be trying to tile the photo because it's too large for the page size.
looke my friend try to go in sp mode and make free run printer via 5802 and ok and press copy sp and back to copier process and print 100 shett don't worry it's not print paper already
unplug the printer from the computer.
go to start>>control panel>>administrative tools>>services
go down the list and, right click on the printer spool to stop the service.
reconnect the printer to the computer and restart the printer spool in the services panel.
if you still having problem, please restart the printer and stop/start the printer spool.
This post regarding the CLP-300/AirPort problem appeared on the Mac forums in June:
"This is not a known issue. The reason for you to face this particular
issue is that these are both 2 GDI printers. Both these printers are
designed to be DIRECTLY connected to a PC or MAC. They are not designed
to be connected to any type of Printer Server, Airport Extreme Base
Station or Powered/Unpowered USB Hub.
If the printers are to be used over a N/W environment then you may need
either CLP-300N or any other N/W capable printing device. The other
option would have been to use any device that is PCL or Post Script
capable. These are not host based would have been better to suited this
type of environment. Even though the previously mentioned methods of
connections are still not recommended they would have been better suit
as they are not host reliant drivers.
As to getting a refund it would highly unlikely as it is not a fault
with the printer or drivers only as mentioned they are both designed
with the intention of being DIRECTLY connected."
I hope this answers your questions. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Try putting the cartridge in and sliding it to the right to make sure it is making a good connection. Try to make sure the cartridge door is shut firmly as to open the Laser shutter which allows the laser to write to the drum.
My almost new F4100 printer is printing irradically, prints perfectly for two or three lines, then it fades to nothing, in a few more lines it prints perfect again. I can't find where to fix it.
try this test...when on internet, hit the "Print screen" key on your keyboard (may be shift-Print screen). then open wordpad and paste the screen-shot using [ctrl-v]. try to print...any change? if so, then try to disable your firewall or anti-virus to print.
