Take out Your hard drive and put it back in. Try starting it again. If that isn't it then replace the hard drive.

It is a hard drive issue. take it out again and make shure it is all the way in or it will beep at you. Try it again. might need to replace the hard drive if that doesn't work.

  • Robert Lekfield May 24, 2009

It will. It is letting You know that the hard drive is not connected so it doesn't have an operating system to start up on. put it back in and let the computer find it if it doesn't You need to replace the hard drive.

When i power up my hp pavillion laptop the screen stays black and it beeps 3 times and does nothing

3 beeps is usually related to the memory.

Try re-seating / booting with just one stick of memory and see what happens.

Laptop Beeps on start up 1 long and two short beeps

You've checked the memory board/card, but have you tried using another memory card? The 1 long followed by 2 short beeps indicates that there's a problem with the memory card. Try to remove the memory card, then wipe the gold traces with a dry cloth and put it back in.

If you try replacing the memory card but you get the same problem, then proceed with the video card.

My HP Pavillion laptop turns on but the screen doesn't show.

You could be expierencing a problem with your monitor screen. try this.... connect another monitor screen to the VGA port of your laptop. Now try booting up. Look for and push Fn + the key that turns on a secondary display. if the monitor screen comes on. you need
another laptop monitor. At least you can use your laptop with the second monitor for now.

HP Pavillion dv 5000 notebook does not turn on

Depending upon your BIOS this error beep code could mean you have faulty RAM modules. Reseat your RAM modules, to make sure they make proper connection. If this doesn't work take them to your friendly computer shop and ask them to test them for you.

One long beep, two shorter beeps - HP laptop will not start up

I had the same problem...
The solution is only temporary and you will have to reapply it after around 5 to 6 boots cuz it'll just happen again (the beep syndrome).

Just heat up the laptop by turning it on and covering its air vents with your hands.

Then after you hear the beeps turn it off.
Turn the laptop on again and immediately turn it over upside down with the lid closed ofcoarse (simply put it on its back).Hopefully you wont hear the beeps and when you open up the laptop lcd...voila display.
