Question about New Home Sewing Machines

Squealing noise from the right side of the machine when begin sewing

When I begin to sew, the machine is sluggish and then there is a squealing sound from the right side of the machine. Perhaps the belt is slipping or something else (bearings?) needs work. This is a mechanical New Home Model 640. Any suggestions of things I can try myself or do I need to take it to a repair shop?

I looked at the belt already...couldn't tell if it needed anything. It's not cracked or frayed. Do you mean that the belt may need cleaning, as well as the machine?

I just cleaned the area under the belt with alcohol and now it doesn't squeak. Hopefully, that will take care of it. Thanks!

The machine will need cleaning. The belt You can't clean. If bad it will need to be replaced.

Caveat! Oil only if your machine is mechanical. If it is computerized, follow the care instructions in the manual. The squealing could be a belt, May be best to take it for service if it continues.

Belt is squealing

Check to see if the belt is slightly tight with your finger. If this doesn't do the job then look to see if there is a screw or bolt that you can loosen and adjust left or right. It is probably rubbing on the side of the pulley. Give this a shot.

The machine will run nicely for a very brief time, then the squealing begins. It does sew nice seams, but this noise is not right.

if you have a manual check and see if the machine can be oiled
if the manual doesn't say, contact brother customer service
and ask them.
or you can take the machine back and get another one and see
if getting another one is better

My Kenmor sewing machine started making a very loud squealing noise coming from inside. How can I fix it?

Is it your tension belt? If it is under warranty, call Sears. If not, take it in to Sears sewing machine department and ask a salesman, they usually are good about helping you out. Without seeing your machine, I don't think we can help you. We would only be guessing what is wrong.

My ELNA 3005 machine is making graunching noises

Open your side cover. normally a screw on top and two on the bottom and maybe one on the side.
After removing the cover you will see one or two tensioner plastic black pullies.(they keep your motor belt and timing belt tight. They need a little bit of machine oil.

We have a Juki MO 804 Overstitch/serger machine, while it is turned on but not sewing the motor makes a squealing noise like a slipping belt. Is that what it is or should I worry about something else

if its on and not running then its most likely a motor bearing or an incorrectly adjusted clutch ( large bolt on the right side of the motor ,from front of machine) loosen lock nut ( 17, or 19 mm) and adjust bolt until the noise goes away.

Needle stays stuck whilst motor runs. Elna sewing machine

Its a lovely swiss made machine, this is an electronic motor so the needle pressure should remain constant no matter what speed you sew at. The needle staying down and the squealing sounds more like drive issues inside or possibly gunk buildup.

If it was my machine, I would take it to a qualified Elna technician and ask for him to look at it. These machines are small and well made so well worth spending the money to give it a service and get it back to 1000% IMHO.
