Unplug everything. take out Your hard drive. put Your hard drive back in plug everything back in and try again. That is what is called a hard boot. If that doesn't work then You hard drive is junk. You will need a new one. Hope that helps.

If you are unable to get any repair utilities to work, you may be able to retrieve files that you want to save from your hard disk by using a live Linux system. See http://www.iso.linuxquestions.org there are many distributions available, one of the best for this is Knoppix. Another good one is Sabayon. They will run live from the CD or DVD, and allow you to browse the hard drive and copy files to USB removable media provided the drive is readable at all.

Insert a bootable disc of ur operating system n use REPAIR option.......
this will repair ur os without harming your personal data
if you wish you can also format it and reinstall ur os but this will install a clean copy deleating ur previous settings and data of ur main drive

Ok if it have a restore disk better to use it. The sign means it cannot see a operating system to load. It maybe the hard drive is out or the files is corrupted.

And also check your cdrom drive, sdcard reader slot or usb drive for pen drive. Maybe a cd disk is inserted, memory card, or usb flash drive is connected.

Ok to be sure if it is not the hard drive goto bios menu check if the harddrive is detected, If detected then maybe its files is corrupted.
You can choose for the best first, repair or restore disk or reformat and install. Depends on the features of your laptop.

Will turn in but won't really start up, message pops up sayin I have problems on my laptop but it can't fix them? Read description

When your toshiba splash screen is showing on startup, press F8 continuously, then you should get some options, go to the one that says safe mode. After loading windows in safe mode click start, search, and type system restore. Open system restore, find a date where your pc was working correctly and click restore. If this doesn't do it on the toshiba spash screen (if you have a new enough laptop) there will be an option called system recovery usually f11 key, this will restore your pc back to its factory state and should resolve any problems your having. If you don't have that option go to https://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/serviceUnitVerification.jsp and see if you can order a set of recovery disc's for your model, they usually run from $25-$30. Hope this helps.

My toshiba satellite M645-S4045 doesn't want load up the system! How can I turn it on in the safe mode?

To access safe mode in Windows: From a completely powered down state, turn on the computer. At the Toshiba splash screen, start tapping the F8 key (top row of your keyboard). This will load a menu selection that has safe mode. Use the arrow key to highlight safe mode and then hit return. A mess of text will load on the screen and then a few moments later the computer should ask you to confirm you want safe mode.

I hope this helps

I updated my toshiba l300 pslgbe's bios from the 1.80 to the 2.2, now everytime i turn my laptop on, it shows a blue screen with an error. my laptop is now completely useless

AS YOU ON THE SYSTEM AND EVEN BEFORE WINDOWS STARTS KEEP PRESSING THE F8 KEY CONTINUEOUSLY. A MENU WILL APPEAR. SELECT SAFE MODE AND ENTER. WINDOWS WILL LOAD IN SAFE MODE. THIS WILL SOLVE SOME OF YOUR PROBLEMS. NOW RESTART THE SYSTEM IN NORMAL MODE.

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK SELECT "LOAD WINDOWS WITH LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION " AND THEN RESTART. THIS WILL SURELY SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM.

PLS REPLY OR COMMENT. THANKS

Toshiba A300 Satellite Laptop, major crash. Tried to enter safe mode but F8 key doesn't work, just beeps. Have recovery disk. When I insert and go to boot options, then choose cd/dvd i am able to go to...

No, but you could try the chkdsk command: - make sure you're on the C: drive or the drive which carries windows. Enter CHKDSK (Checkdisk) it will check your HDD for errors even try to repair them. Because it looks like you may have a disk failure.

I have a IBM thinkpad T40, while working on it, the laptop shut down and started to reboot. but only got to a point where it said could not find operating system.after a couple of times tring to reboot it,...

Whilst booting up have tried tapping the F8 key to get into the safe mode menu and either select the last known good configuration option or the safe mode option to load the operating system to then try and determine the cause. Should this suggestion not work a safe option to recovering your data is to buy a USB hard disc drive docking station, whip out your hdd, slot it into the docking station and retrieve your files using another PC. Repairing the operating system using the XP disc on boot up sometimes works but also trashes your personal data if it's on the C drive and it reloads the o/s.

Toshiba laptop has a corrupt operating system

When you switch the laptop on, tap the F8 key a few times and the machine should boot to a black page with white lettering.
You will be given options of "boot" you can try "last known good configuration" but I would opt for "safe mode".
If you can get into safe mode go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore and then select a time and date to restore your machine back before this problem started.
