The pilot orifice could be dirty causing the pilot flame to be too small. Unscrew the pilot tube at the pilot assembly. The orifice is inside. Remove the orifice and blow it out with compressed air only. Reassemble and see if that fixes the problem. If the pilot flame is set too low, sometimes opening a door will cause a draft to blow out the pilot. If the thermocouple is good and the pilot flame is set properly, the control valve may be bad.

Hi, On a milivolt unit that has a thermocouple and standing pilot works on the basis of heating the bulb which produces a very small amount of electricity called milivolts. This is what generates these volts to keep the pilot on. Make sure it is tight at the gas valve, posistioned into a nice blue flame with a small yellowish tip. If it continues to drop out, you have a faulty gas valve and it must be replaced. You may want to compare the price of the valve to another unit, you can take model and serial #bers from the unit and the valve and compare prices. No one likes to hear this, but this is the problem if all else I have asked you to double check are good. Please let me no the out come. Good Luck, Sincerely,

I would first check to see if pilot flame is burning clean and strong enough. It should have about 1&1/2 inch flame with slight yellow on tip. Most of flame should be bright blue. It's possible that pilot orifice and/or gas feed tube are dirty. If you feel comfortable with doing this it may help.Sometimes they can be hard to get to but the main thing I would caution you on is if you disconnect pilot gas line to be very careful when you are threading fitting back into gas valve. Fitting is brass and gas valve is aluminium so its easy to cross thread and cause leaks. Also if this is a millivolt system it will have what is called a basso and if its bad it can cause this problem.Normally if it's a millivolt system there will be no outside source of power, no blower or fan.Hope this helps you. Thanks
