Hi well I have a HPvs17 Monitor and today when I got on the computer the monitor stopped working and I maked sure it was the monitor and it's like the monitor when I turn it on I can't see nothing at all...

Backlight failing, or the inverter failing. You need to get someone who is a specialist to assess the problem to see if a repair is cost effective

Seems to me that the LCD cables are not properly atached.
Double check all the LCD connections.
Your problem will be solved.

My laptop shows Colored Vertical Lines. OS is Windows Vista. My laptop is Compaq- 3 years old. Please help!!

Okay, firstly please try and boot into safe mode and see if the problem persists then. If yes, then boot from a recovery CD (so that the OS is not in use - instead the CD is). These two steps will test whether the problem is to do with software/OS or a hardware issue. If with the CD boot the problem still persists then you know it's not a malware or OS problem. At this point if you have another (LCD) monitor to connect to your laptop, please do so and then see if the colored lines appear on your spare monitor. If not, then your monitor needs to be replaced (or use the spare one instead). And if the problem still persists, then it could be a motherboard fault or some other internal part. In that case, contact Compaq for any replacement part possibility. If any of my suggestions help you, please do rate me. Thanks and good luck. Hope all goes well for you.

Every time I turn on the monitor it takes a little longer to turn on. yesterday it took 20 minutes to turn on. Today, it didn´t turn on at all... any ideas ?

If you had of stopped trying to get it to work when you knew there was a problem, the repair would have likely been inexpensive and fairly easy to do. It sounds like the capacitors on your power board needed to be replaced.
However, since you kept using it until you killed it, the power board likely needs to be replaced. You can get one from viewsonic.com. Email them and get a price. Make sure the monitor is no longer covered by the 3 year warranty.
Here's a piece of advice. If your car starts making loud banging noises, don't just keep running it. Have it looked at right away. If a piece of electronics starts acting up, deal with it. Don't just keep trying to make it work or you will ruin it completely.

If you don't know the difference between a CRT and an LCD you should just stop trying to help people. How you got the rank of "master" is beyond my understanding.

Monitor flickers with changing colors making it almost impossible to see anything, it started & stopped for a while then after maybe three weeks after it started again ! I tried disconnecting & changing...

I suggest upgrading the OS on these problem terminals to the latest on the wyse website. It might be an incompatibility with the monitor and terminal (might have been fixed in later builds), in which case you will need to log it with Wyse directly, as they will need to test this.

Chances are though you either have a faulty monitor cable, a faulty unit, or faulty monitor. Perhaps even a combination of more than one of these above problems. Try to rule out each bit of hardware before blaming anything in particular.

Try a few different monitor resolutions, colour depth and refresh rates too. Cant hurt :)

I receive the same error. If I use the profile colors are off (not just a little). Other fora have posted to uninstall the driver and use a generic monitor. This allows Photoshop do its thing properly.
