Question about Kenmore Refrigerators

Shut down once, some clicking noises. Now is runing fine.

Fridge shut down once, turned itself back on, but now is clicking. We were told it is the compressor. Not much else. The unit is only 5 years old. How do we know how much longer it will last? Should we buy a new fridge?

If you have a meter you can do an amp draw on the compressor,if it draws under 5 amps you just need a 3in 1 starter kit,any appliance parts store has them for $10,easy to install directions come with it,let me know how you do-mike

Probably a bad compressor start relay.
Replace the relay before you condemn the fridge.

You can do the test recommended above. However, your compressor will only draw 3 amps if running correctly. It will draw NO amps if it is not running.
While a 3n1 relay will work it is recommended you use the factory specific relay for replacement.
If you do have a volt meter, set it for continuity. Unplug the fridge.Remove the start relay to expose the compressor pin circuit. Touch a meter lead to each pin and the other lead to a copper refrigerant line. If you get any reading the compressor is shorted out.

Samsung HLS5086WX/XAA made popping noise and shut off, then made whirring noise.

When my TV did this in the past it ended up being the color wheel. I had someone replace it and it worked fine. I asked it if had to be calibrated after it is installed and he said no. Also make sure the door switch is pushed down when you install the back bulb door. Sometimes this switch can go bad as well.

Bosch Axxis WTE86300US turns itself off after ten minutes, won't turn back on for a few minutes after that

I would bet you have a bad sensor. There are a couple of sensors that monitor heat. When it gets too hot they shut it down as a safety precaution. Once it is cool enough it will start up again.

I have a freezer that does not work it clicks on for a few sec then cuts off what could be wrong

The clicking is the electronic ignitor trying to light the gas.
Either it's not getting any gas to light , or the flame sensor is not telling the computer that there is flame , so it shuts down the gas.
Most fridges have a small shut off right at the gas valve in the back of the fridge , it might be turned off. Put your ear up to the back cover of the fridge , if you hear it sparking and then you hear flame but it goes out after a few seconds , than it is the flame sensor. If you never hear the flame blowing , than it is not getting gas. Could be several different reasons. If you have disconected your tanks , maybe the gas has just not made it to the fridge yet. Newer ignitors try 3 times and then shut down if no flame is detected. Old ones only try once.

I REPLACED ICE MAKER UNIT BECAUSE REPAIR MAN TOLD ME THAT THE HUMMINING NOISE WAS DUE TO ICE MAKER BEING STUCK IN A CYCLE. AFTER REPLACEMENT THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. WHEN I SHUT THE ICE MAKER OFF NOISE...

theres ice in the fan propelar, if you see no ice blocking the propellers its the fan motor itself,if you unplug the fridge and stick something thin between the vents where you feel the air blowing thru and try turning the fan, gently and it spins smooth its the fan motor,if you dont wish to do this turn freezer off, open the door and let it defrost, then plug it in if buzz still there its the fan motor
