Question about Honeywell Heating & Cooling

Airconditioning will not come on

I have a honeywell 4000 thermostat on the second floor of my home. The home is about 9 months old. I have two separate systems in the home - one on the first floor and one for the second. Everything has worked fine up to this point, however yesterday the airconditioning would not come on. It worked last summer and once about a month ago when we had a hot spell, but would not work at this point.

I tried a jumper between R and Y - nothing happened. There is no water in the drain pan under the airhandler. I found the float switch but it did not appear to be activated and wasn't sure about a reset. My air handler is a Comfortmaker C8MPV. The thermostat appears to be working, but the airhandler and compressor do not come on. When I set the thermostat temp below the existing temp, the thermostat reads "cool on", but nothing happens. Breakers are all on.

If you have a secondary drain pan installed underneath the airhandler. Look for a float switch in the drain pan. It may be activated to stop low voltage power. Reset it.
If there is water in the pan, vacuum it out and clear the primary drain line.

Sounds like your low voltage transformer is blown. Some are resettable.
Verify high voltage power to the airhandler. If that is OK. Set the fan switch to ON. If it does not come on. Check the transformer.

If the units have high voltage and neither come on and the float switch is good. You have a bad transformer or a bad thermostat.
If jumping at the R-Y or R-G brings nothing on. Replace the transformer.

And if what jumptrout51 said does not work, remove the thermostat to expose the wiring and place a jumper between (R) and (Y).

On the zone damper motor, there should be a little lever allowing you to open the damper for emergency heat. Probably a bad zone motor or connection.

Old mercury thermostat, New furnace wiring issues

Two wire hookup on the old thermostat tells me that it was set up for heating only. You will most likely need a modern thermostat. But in the meantime try this with the old one. The two red wires on the furnace are probably Rh & Rc. If so these can be put "together" on the R terminal on the old stat. The two W's on the new furnace are probably W1 &v W2 This is for first and second stage heat. You can put the two "together" on the W terminal on the old stat. Do not hook up the greens (blower fan wires). Do not hook up the blue wires (They would go to the Y terminal on a modern stat for airconditioning.
Who ever sold you the furnace should have offered you a new thermostat.
Good luck....

Installing Honeywell RTH7000 - I have too many wires!

check to see if the B terminal is on the new t-stat if connect to it , but this terminal refers to heat pumps and is normally use to energize the reversing valve on the outside unit and not used on ac units , but normally the tag O/B is the same terminal on therostats
