In as much as there is a ddr slot, it could be used, no need to adjust any switch.

What is memory card EliteGroup P4VMM2 V8.1 Motherboard

You will need to install either DDR RAM (DDR 200 or DDR 226) or SDRAM (PC133 or PC100) memory. You cannot install both, you need to choose. The motherboard supports a maximum 2GB and there are two DDR and two PCI slots so 1GB +1GB would be the assumed maximum.

Make sure you have the correct memory speed for that motherboard. Also go into the BIOS and set everything to default.

What video card is better for my board?

Hello there Mizrach#03 ...

The following advice is based on specifications detailed here:

As I'm sure you already know, you have a relatively limited (older) motherboard (MB) there. But make no mistake, there is absolutely no criticism impiled in the least. After all, if the capabilities of your MB meets your particular needs, then there's nothing "wrong" with it. And let no one tell you otherwise. No one "needs" hardware beyond their "needs".

That said, THE critical determinant is the "4x AGP" specification. In the simplest terms: Get the best "4x AGP" video card you can get for the money.

Here's a lineup of solid choices (NOT all are 4x AGP, disregard those that are not):|c:318|&Sort=4

God-speed, and please post back if you have any further questions, and/or to just let me know how everything worked out.

Can i install 1GB ddr2 on P4VMM2 Motherboard? i want to upgrade my pc; board is: can i P4VMM2 Motherboard; cani i use 1GB ddr2 on this and a 512 MB if vid.card?

Unfortunetly you cannot use ddr2 memory on this motherboard. The motherboard supports only PC2100/PC1600 DDR memory if you have version 8.1 of the motherboard. If you have v5.0 of the motherboard than you can only use sdram or ddr 266Mhz RAM. The same goes for the video card. The p4vmm2 motherboard is a rather old motherboard so I don't think it will payoff to upgrade the computer. It will be probably the best if you buy another computer.

best regards

Ecs p4vmm2 v1.0 motherboard windows xp sp2 can`t get sound to work onboardsound

1st: try enabling the onboard audio devices from the bios setup menu. it should be somewhere in the on board menus.
2nd: try installing the latest drivers from ECS
i did not manage to find the motherboard model you specified. i did manage to come up with these:
p4vmm2[v1.1] drivers
and also p4vmm[v1.0] drivers

please re-check the specific model you have and download the driver that suits you

Ddr not detected

if you want to use ddr ram with p4vmm2 mother bord you must replace the jumper near by the ddr2 slot
then your computer starts to work with ddr ram at 266Mhz also 400 Mhz too.

Memory Upgrade - from 256DDR1 to 1GB DDR1

EliteGroup makes two mother boards, P4VMM2, (No Revisions) & (P4VMM2 revision 8.1). Since your question states your memory is 184 pin DIMM your board must be, v 8.1. What does not make sense is the motherboard has two memory slots total.
(If you have 4 memory slots on the MB than the MB can not be the P4VMM2). Below is the link for the P4VMM2 (v8.1).

The P4VMM2 v 8.1 can only use, two Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM memory modules. These sockets support up to 1GB system memory using 184-pin unbuffered non-ECC PC2100 or PC1600 DDR DIMMs. The two DIMMS you are using must run at the same speed.
Example PC2100 266MHz. OR PC1600 266MHz.
Continuous beeping means the memory is not seated correctly.
When using only one DIMM it should be inserted in the slot closest to the CPU. Re-check your memory. Remove & reseat. Make sure the latches snap closed on each stick of memory while inserting. Below is all of ECS P4VMM motherboards;

Good luck sysa007!

Critical after DDR333 upgrade

I got your latest version (8.1) motherboard on my screen & ECS shows your board does not support PC2700, only PC2100.
Downloaded your manual to verify this.
Notice you started having problems after upgrading RAM.
Link to your manual:

This motherboard accommodates two 184-pin DDR DIMM
sockets for up to 1GB memory. Supports PC2100/PC1600
unbuffered non-ECC DDR DIMMs.|c:147|&Sort=0&Recs=10

Good Luck!

Possible cpu upgrades for p4vmm2 motherboard

I see that you have already had this answered at They were right when they answered you, you need to check your MB manual to see if it is capable of upgrading to the CPU that you want to use, not all MB support all CPU's just because they both have 478 pins. I looked on the ASUS website and they don't even list your MB model on there.
