Inability to connect to other laptop in the same adhoc computer to computer wireless network by Lenovo s10 423123q. Network can be detected and gets connected by both computers but fails to connect to each other. Tried changing IP addresses of both in the same range but that doesn't work

If the network is hosted by the lenovo s10 try connecting from the other computer also it would be helpful to tell us what operating system you are running on both computers at any rate here is a link that solved the problem for me. http://www.vistax64.com/vista-networking-sharing/108893-ad-hoc-computer-computer-wireless-network.html if that doesnt help or pertain to your operating system do a search on the same site under your operating systems. good luck and hopefully if you dont fix it someone with more knowledge comes along to help

My new tablet will not connect to internet. i have the usb plugged into mt laptop. i do not have a wireless router?

open network connections on your laptop and select both the wireless adapter AND the internet connection adapter in there and right click on them and click bridge connections. Then go into the network setup wizard (XP) or network and sharing center and click connect to a network and choose adhoc connection. then open wireless settings on the coby kyros and connect to the adhoc connection on your laptop. You should then be able to connect to the internet on it

Don't have a router and want to connect the two wireless computers with each...

Don't have a router and want to connect the two wireless computers with each other you need to set up both computers to an adhoc mode.If using Windows XP in your desktop computer follow the steps below to configure the wireless adapter to adhoc mode.

Go to control panel> Network Connections> Right click on wireless network then hit properties> Click on Wireless network Tab and removed everything under preferred networks. Click on Add button then type on the Network name SSID "Linksys". Remove the check for "The key is provided for me automatically" then enter the network key. Make sure that you enter 10 or 26 characters on the network key box. You can only set a network in using alphanumeric characters. You can create a network key by using numbers only, letters only or combination of numbers and letters from 0-9 or A-F characters. Put a check mark on the box says "This is a computer-to -computer (adhoc) network." Hit the ok button. Under the preferred networks highlight the SSID that you have set "Linksys"then hit the advance button. Click on computer to computer [adhoc]networks only then hit close and ok all the way out.

You need to do the same thing on the laptop where you have the installed a wireless adapter. SSID and network key should be the same on your network card. It should be set to adhoc as well.

Both computers must have static IP address. For the desktop computer you can set an IP address of 192.168.1.2 and the subnet mask is255.255.255.0. The laptop must have an IP address of 192.168.1.3 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.

From the desktop computer, under network connections right click on wireless network connection then click on view available wireless network. Highlight Linksys then hit connect. Do the same thing on thel aptop. Once they are both connected try to ping each other and see if you will get reply. To ping the laptop from the desktop computer, follow the steps below:

a.On WinXP/2000:
Click Start > Run. On the Open field type cmd then hit OK. On the DOS prompt type ping 192.168.1.3 then hit enter.
b.On Win98/Me
Click Start > Run. On the Open field type command then hit OK. On the DOS prompt type ping 192.168.1.3 then hit enter.

Do the same thing on the laptop but instead of pinging the 192.168.1.3you need to ping the 192.168.1.2.

If you got replies it means that you are already communicating with each other.

If you are getting a low signal you may change the channel on the adapter. Follow the steps below on how to change the settings of the adapter:
For Windows XP and 2000
Right click on my computer properties>click on hardware>device manager>under network adapters right click on wireless-G notebook adapter then select properties>click on the Advance Tab then look channel then change it to 11. You may try to use other channels like1, 6, and 9.

For Windows 98 and ME
Click start>control panel>network>look for wireless-G notebook adapter with a green icon left beside it then double click on it>click on the Advance Tab then look for channel then change itto 11. You may try to use other channels like 1, 6, and 9.

Hope this help everyone.

My husband has Netgear in our house but i need an IP address for my lap top and Ipod, can you help me with that?

If your laptop has wireless card installed, turn on wireless radio of laptop. It will show the networks available and will allow you to create a new adhoc network. Try to create a new adhoc network and assign a new network name. It will broadcast an IP over adhoc network and you can connect other wireless device to the laptop using this adhoc network name.

How do you connect WIndows Vista to Windows 7 through ADHOC?

Wireless Adapter is a device that will receive the wireless signals and will make your computer wireless adapter. without the wireless adapter you can not use the computer to connect to the wireless network. Now a days all the laptops and desktops are equipped with the built in wireless adapters.
First check whether you have a wireless adapter on your computer ?

WIN VISTA/ Windows 7
Click START ==> Control Panel ==> In the right hand side at the top you will see " Classic View "
Switch to classic view ==> you will see Device Manager ==> Under Network Adapters you will find your wireless adapter listed . Right clink on the wireless adapter ==> properties => Check whether it says the Device is working properly or not ? If it says working properly then that's great !

If you do not see wireless adapter in the Device manager , then either you do not have the adapter or the wireless adapter is not working .If you see "yellow exclamation mark" on the wireless adapter, that means the drivers are not installed for the adapter or not working. Reinstall the drivers.
Once your adapter is working properly , try to connect to the wireless network.

If you are installing the external wireless adapter to the computer and if you are using Windows 2000 or Windows 98 , ME, then you will have to connect to the wireless network using the utility of that adapter.
If you are using Win XP then you can use windows to connect to the wireless network or you can use other utility.
In case of Win VISTA, you will use windows to connect to the wireless network.

I have a iphone 3gs and want to access wifi or wireless on toshiba satellite pro x200

Hi,

Laptop normally have single chip WiFi or Wireless Cards...

These cards could be used as client(connecting to wireless router), adhoc or access point(a WiFi card could be used as Access Point to route your LAN(Wired) connection on WLAN)...

Your laptop WiFi card is already busy as a Cleint, so if you want to use it as AdHoc, you have to remove all the other connection with the WIreless...ie, Disconnect the WLAN from connecting other devices, and follow the below mentioed steps to connect your device..

When you are using Client mode you are not able to use it on Ad-hoc or Access Point feature...

Setup laptop to Ad-Hoc
1)Navigate to control panel and choose network connection, Right click on the Wireless network connection and click on the Properties on Wireless NIC
2) Click-Wireless Networks Tab
3) Click-Add
4) Provide SSID Name, name to identify you rnetwork
5)Security -Net Auth: Open
6)Make -Data Encryption: Disabled
7) In the check box present-Check on This is a Computer to Computer (ad-hoc) network.
Change the IP address of the Wireless NIC card, by choosing TCp IP in the properties of WLAN and choosing TCP/IP v4 from the installed service

TCP/IP on Laptop
-IP: 10.0.0.1
-Subnet: 255.255.255.0

TCP/IP on iPhone
-Static IP
-IP: 10.0.0.2
-Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Now try searching for Wireless through your phone, you should able to connect..
Please leave me comment, if you need further assistance

How does the pc wireless adapter work for laptops with embarq equipment. currently using dsl with embarq.

pc wireless adapter will work then if you have also another network like wireless router or another PC or Laptop with wireless adapter, if your going to use this wireless adapter network in pc to pc is you are going to setup by adhoc to adhoc connection, itself detect for sharing a network without any router needed, but if you do such simple network connection use wireless router, its definitely work easily. Aumatomaticall detect wireless router on your wireless adapter network.. Good luck!
