I have a technic sl 1200 mk2 , my anti skate is

I gather you don't know how to adjust the tonearm. First put the stylus pressure, and antiskating to zero. Balance the tonearm for a free floating position. Ortofon cartridges will list the stylus pressure, generally 1.5 grams. Dial in the correct pressure, and set the antiskating to the same as the stylus pressure. Numark ttx shortage

Shortage?, no the vestax pdx 2000mk2 has shortage, the numark is not a well build unit from the. inside. I just can buy the ttx in store. Which is inside mostly oem%#}#%. Buy a te hnics , refurbish it yourself and tkake the kabusa straight/s-shape option, then atleast you have a proper tonearm and unit, but scewing arm together is very bad for your stiffness and the s-shape is very bad . Just but a s shape board and straight arm. You miss the accuracy and stiffness, which aint great on a te hnics also and the connection is a sad built for the money. I purchased half a year ago a vestax pdx 3000 mix and that unit is way better built then the the 2000 pro with the j arm

and it\'s new from the inside.

My mk-5 is also new, costing me 1000 euro and then i have a pgd. micro electronics. The average technics mk 2 is worn out stuf and a waste of money and the refurbished ones, ain\'t real refurbished. Buy a pioneer, then atleast it\'s new, with oem parts inside offcourse. Or you have to live in the netherlands and i can tell you what to need to need to renew on a technics, which are all caps, a lot a resistors , the two var resistors, tonearmcables and removing that stupid standard rca system and put nice rca\'s on a plate on it and the feet for new feet or just isokinets, since used technics have no usefull rubber anymore in the feet.

Repairing tone arm of a pioneer PL 200!

i have the same problem with two vestax parts, which of one is round so sprayglue and three turns around it with thin koper cable.and after that sandpapered itagain and another layer glue, but i had no choice... the part ain't available en a couple of days ago my backside of a pdx 2000 spantanious broke of, but carbon wil hopefully fix it. You need to know of which plastic it's made and get the right glue, but you nee some glassfibre orso also on the inside , or it will brake

Clibrate pitch Vestax PDX d3S

It's a variable , since it's depended on more parts, but just clean it first and gently turn it until the platter moves correct, assuming you
mean to correct the variable resistor(potmeter) . If the value was everywhere the same, then you don't need a variable resistor:)

How do you take the plastic clip off that hold the tone arm

Well be very carefull, since they breal soooo easily. You can get if bu unscrewing the imbuscat the side and the internal you desolder your tonearm wires and with some effort you can pull out the pivot after unscrewing the the height adjustment screw at the the side. They are crappy things and i just glue them together woth some thin bare thin wire to keep it in place, after that i use some kevlar/carbon fibre with the right glue, but not a lot of glue holds on it.... annoying part.

I have problem with tonearm on my vestax pdx 2000 turntable , no connection with needle , but when I make contacts of the needle wet it sometimes help a bit , but I should do it always to make it work. ...

I'd be checking the weight and height settings of the tonearm. Heres a link to the manual for the deck. There's instructions in there about how to setup up the tonearm properly. Don't be afraid to experiment with it. Just remember, too much weight will wear out your vinyl really quickly. Not enough weight will sound like **** and skip easily. Have fun!

My turntable keeps skiping for no reason, no matter the record. i also made sure the turntable was level. the turntable is a vestax 2000mkII

What is the weight on the stylus? Flip the protective shield down to protect the stylus if available. Tare the tone arm (adjust the counterweight on the back of the arm until the arm floats perfectly level), then hold the counterweight and turn the dial markings to read zero. If you cannot find the recommended mass for the stylus you can use the average weight of 3g. Verify your tone arm is still floating in the center and the arm is perfectly level. Turn the counterweight until the dial indicates the specified weight of the cartridge manufacture specification sheet or you can set it for 3g if you do not have the specification sheet.

I balanced my tonearms correctly. i think .. but the stylus jumps off the record and when i back spin (cue) the needle skates drasticly. can you walk me through the balancing proceedure and tell me how to...

Balancing the tone arm is a two step process. Set the needle weight adjustment to zero(0) and make sure that the tone arm is balanced. It should rest horizontally without touching anything. Next, set the needle weight (usually 1.5 grams). Both adjustments should be on the rear of the tone arm. That should cause the tone arm to drop toward the record and have the correct pressure for the needle. Also, check the anti-skate adjustment. If that is off, the behavior you describe will occur as well.

Well on my technics MK2 1210's, the little anti sketch settings and all the others probably arent set to what they are supposed to be, because my needle arm keeps jumping :P could someone tell me what all...

There are two main things that will influence the anti skate settings.

1) The Headshell Weight and Balance
Firstly, check the data sheet for the cartridge and stylus you are using. It should tell you the correct weight setting which will vary from one cartridge and stylus to another. If the stylus is set too light, it can skate across the disc. This can damage the disc and the stylus. The sound will also be thin and it is likely to distort on high frequencies. If the weight is too heavy, it will not jump but will definitely damage the disc.

If you are a serious vinyl user, get yourself a tone arm balance. This is a device that you place on the turntable and you rest the stylus on a plate which is marked in micrograms. You place the stylus exactly at the correct weight marking and then make adjustments to the turntable settings until the tone arm is balanced. It's easier than it sounds!

If you don't have the data sheet for your cartridge and stylus and cannot find it online, use an old disc that you don't mind damaging, set the weight on the light side and gradually increase the weight until it stops skating.

2) Platter Levelling
Secondly, you need to make sure your turntable us on a level surface. If you are a purist, use a spirit level. to do this.

There are other things that can cause skating and jumping, especially if you use the turntable as a DJ. For example, vibration (caused hopefully by dozens rocking to your music). DJs will often increase the headshell weight very slightly to overcome this and I have sometimes placed the turntables on a thick rubber sheet such as carpet underlay to improve shock absorption.
