Without going into the web and searching for your model a quicker way to find out what's exactly in your system is to download a little program called belarc ....run it on the laptop and it will give you all the info on your particular model ....from ram to the make of your hard drive . you can get this by either using google or go to majorgeeks and download from there.

The 1st RAM slot is under the keyboard. This slot has a RAM module installed when you purchase the laptop. The 2nd RAM slot is on the bottom of the laptop.

Ram Socket location

for the most part its on the underside of the laptop generally secured by a few screws ( as in at least 2 and generally about 4 )

Should all be in the manual ( which if you dont have a hard copy of it ) will be on the toshiba website and they should have a pdf version of the manuals )

Where and how do i replace my ram on toshiba tecra

Hello.Shut down the laptop. Remove the rams.Put the new one. It depends on how many slots you have. If you have one memory slot just put it there. The original 256 can stay there.

Toshiba tecra 8100 , says memory is incompatiable type?

the Toshiba Tecra 8100 only supports 144-Pin PC100 SODIMM RAM chips. It has 2 total RAM slots and can support up to a maximum of 512MB of RAM.

If you have attempted to upgrade the RAM on the unit, ensure that both modules are seated (plugged in) firmly. Also ensure that they are of the correct type (144-Pin PC100 SODIMM), and size (not bigger than 256MB each). Anything other than those types of chips will yield you that message.

If you (or someone else) have not attempted a memory upgrade on the unit, then it's entirely possible that your unit's RAM is failing and I would reccommend bringing it in to a repair shop to have it troubleshot / fixxed.

Hope that helps you, and please do not forget to rate my solution.

Having trouble with memory upgrade for Toshiba laptop

I don't see anything about DDR2 I do see DDR SODIMM.

Kingston ( a company owned by Toshiba) has the specs you need for your pc. Here is the link:
