Question about Acer Aspire 5000 Notebook

Open Question

Notebook hangs... Suddendly my notebook started to hang if i try to type something in Mozilla Firefox in the bar where you enter the site. Each 2-3 letters. It also responds longer to all commands, but if i ever get to launch a game, i can play it without hanging. Sounds like a disk problem. I already tried defrag and cleaning registry...

SOURCE: Aspire 5600 hangs with battery inserted, without battery works fi

one of 2 things, youre battery might be no more good, i u left a dead battery lieing around for awhile they tend to lose there charge so maybe buy a new battery, but i suggest reformating ur computer using the hidden partion in the acer start screen, when u boot ur computer hold ctrl + f10 this should enable the acer e-recovery management to reset the computer back to factory defaults. Note that everything in ur drive c will be deleted so anything u want to keep should be moved to the drive D. if its not ctrl f10 then search acer e recovery and ull find the correct key combination to enable it

SOURCE: the system hang during winxp install

The Cpu fan doesn't run all the time on laptops. It only runs when you first turn it on and then runs at different times to keep the temperature down on the laptop to prevent overheating.

If you have a windows boot disk then you can wipe out the hard drive from DOS using the fdisk an the format commands.

If you dont have the boot disk, then make sure your windows XP system disk is clean on both sides, then try to install it again.

If it is still hanging and you know for sure that your XP disk is good, the next step would be to try a different hard drive in your laptop that you know is good.

This sounds like a hard drive problem with the lockups.

If your laptop feels very warm or hot to the touch, then where the vents are on you laptop, blow some canned air into there to unclog the vents.

Seems more likely that there was a virus threat and attack that had caused the firefox browser to hang up. You can shut down and restart, try and use a good active antivirus to scan, check and repair if there was any damage on the OS .If not you can uninstall the forefox and reinstall.

Hi, my mozilla firefox is so hard to open , and it takes minutes before it opens .. what will i do ?

HI,

Sometimes it depends on your internet connection speed, if your internet connection is slow, even if its not Mozilla, it will take time for a browser to load up. If it's really your Mozilla browser, you can try to uninstall and reinstall it. Click on Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program and then look for Mozilla Firefox then uninstall it, restart the computer after, then Open up your Internet Explorer and on the address bar, type mozilla.com and from their website, download the Mozilla browser again. You can try to download Google Chrome as you alternative browser.

Hope this will help...Your response is very much appreciated...

I cant find facebook on this browser..

Hi, you can get to Facebook using Mozilla Firefox by typing the following address into the browser's address bar (the white bar at the top of the screen that starts with "http://"):

www.facebook.com

You can also leave off the "www" so you only have to type "facebook.com" and then hit Enter, and Firefox will take you to the Facebook home page.

Once you get there, you can bookmark that page so that in the future you don't have to type the address in, you can just click on the bookmark link to be taken right there.

Hope that helps!
