Laptop will not recognize psp

Hi lawolf77,

If your laptop wont recognize your PSP there might be a connection problem between the two. So you need to check what's causing the problem. There are several ways to check if PSP and your computer are properly connected, one good example is by checking the connectors and the device setting.

If you want to check some configuration on how to connect your PSP to your PC please try to follow these steps:

1. First, connect your PSP to your PC using a usb cable.
- please make sure both ends are properly intact.

2. Using the left and right directional button find "Setting", then scroll down or up to find the "USB CONNECTION".

3. USB CONNECTION will display after you pressed the x button.

4. Please wait until computer detects the USB connection. After that it will show the drive for your PSP. usually F: or G:

5. Click on your PSP drive letter.

6. Now you can determine if your PC recognizes the PSP, just access the root folder and try to put some files on it.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I downloaded the update but the pc cannot open the file . the updater is called eboot. i have it in my pc but cannot open it

The file is not supposed to be opened by your PC. You have the transfer the file from your PC to the PSP. To do this, you need a USB cable and you have to plug your PSP into your PC.

Download procedure
  1. Prepare to save the update data on either system storage or Memory Stick Micro™ (M2)™ media, using one of the following methods:
    • Connect the PSP® system to the PC using the USB cable
    • Connect a commercially available Memory Stick USB reader/writer to the PC
    • Use the Memory Stick slot on a PC
  2. Create a folder for the update data on either system storage or Memory Stick™ media.

Using your PC, create a folder named "PSP". Within the "PSP" folder, create a folder named "GAME". Within the "GAME" folder, create a folder named "UPDATE". (Folder names must be in all uppercase letters).
  3. Download the update data for the PSP-N1000 (PSP®go) series and save it in the "UPDATE" folder created in step 2.

Notice
You must save the downloaded data as noted in these instructions. If you do not save in the correct location and with the filename shown below, the system will not recognize the update data.
  • Location: Save in the "UPDATE" folder
  • Filename: Save as filename "EBOOT.PBP"

I want to connect a cctv camera to psp

yes indeed. you need simply a usb to mini usb hub cable ( about 15 bucks) and hook it in, go to usb mode on the psp it will have a few options. naturally th epsp wont recognize the system immediatelt, so give it time and all will be solved. if this doesn't work, then i recommend changing psp settings on your computer to allow the psp tpo recognize it immediately.

Computer does`t recognize psp

try to use another usb connector cable with your psp. It has some lost connection...maybe the data connector is loose. USB has 4 pin(pc side) the voltage supply for power and the data pin..just try.. if it doesnt work...checked if your in admin account because some hardware cant be installed if your not the admin of the pc.

How to use a usb cable for the psp

Plug a USB cable into the back of the PSP and into your PC or Mac. The USB cable needs to have a Mini-B connector on one end (this plugs into the PSP), and a standard USB connector on the other (this plugs into the computer).
Scroll to the "Settings" icon on the home menu of your PSP.
Find the "USB Connection" icon in the "Settings" menu. Press the X button. Your PSP will display the words "USB Mode" and your PC or Mac will recognize it as a USB storage device.

After that you can now transfer file from PSP to computer and vice versa...

Hope that helps..............

Follow this steps to transfer music on PSP:

  1. Insert a Memory Stick into the Memory Stick slot in the left side of the PSP. Depending on how much music you want it to hold, you may need to get a larger one than the stick that came with your system.
  2. Turn on the PSP.
  3. Plug a USB cable into the back of the PSP and into your PC or Mac. The USB cable needs to have a Mini-B connector on one end (this plugs into the PSP), and a standard USB connector on the other (this plugs into the computer).
  4. Scroll to the "Settings" icon on the home menu of your PSP.
  5. Find the "USB Connection" icon in the "Settings" menu. Press the X button. Your PSP will display the words "USB Mode" and your PC or Mac will recognize it as a USB storage device.
  6. Create a folder called "PSP" on the PSP Memory Stick (if there isn't one already) -- it shows up as "Portable Storage Device" or something similar -- (you can use Windows Explorer on a PC, or Finder on a Mac).
  7. Create a folder called "MUSIC" inside the "PSP" folder.
  8. Drag and drop image files into the "MUSIC" folder just as you would save files in another folder on your computer.
  9. Disconnect your PSP by first clicking on "Safely Remove Hardware" on the bottom menu bar of a PC, or by "ejecting" the drive on the Mac (drag the icon into the trash). Then unplug the USB cable and press the circle button to return to the home menu.
Hope that helps........
