Question about Sylvania SF150 15" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

How do I find and replace the vga cable? (It is hardwired to the back of the monitor.)

I need a new vga cable for my Sylvania SF150 monitor. The problem is the cable is hardwired to the monitor. I can not simply "unplug" the cable from the back of the monior. I can take the monitor apart but I still need to know what type of cable I need and where to buy a replacement cable.

I got hold of an old vga cable (15 pin), cut off the male end. I then cut the existing cable comming out of the monitor. After soldering the wires together and lots of electrical tape wala - it works.

Now the problems I incured - Don't solder wires together based on color, they probably will not match. Peel back the ends of the cut off connectors and find each pin with a Multimeter. Once you find each wires match solder them carefully and tape. When done test and if good place a short splint on the spliced area and tape. This will keep the wires from breaking from movement. Good luck.

How to switch the meso lap top to external monitor

If you have an external monitor with VGA interface and you have a VGA monitor cable then should simply plug it into the netbook VGA socket and reboot. The monitor should then start up and can be used as a screen. If you are using Windows then you can right click mouse on screen to select display properties and configure the resolution and profile of the setup.

I would like to use my Sylvania LC320ss8 Flat screen tv as a computer monitor but when I plug in the monitor plug the screen on the tv says format not supported. My operating system is Windows 7 and...

If you have connected the TV to the computer with a VGA cable, what resolution was your previous monitor using? You may need to change the resolution or refresh rate with your regular monitor attached. This TV has a native resolution of 1366 x 768 .

If you are connected via one of the HDMI ports, check the specifications for your TV. Then try using the VGA output. Not all TVs support a computer signal over HDMI. Unfortunately, I can't find the LC320ss8 at the Sylvania Support site: . If the model number has an error, click on Downloads and enter the correct model number.

I hope this helps.

When online, my older SF150 monitor requires me to use the vertical & horizontal sliders to see all the text/photos. In the 'control panel', 'display' then 'monitor': 'properties' button is not active...

I found Sylvania video drivers at this link:
That may help, since you mention it is only a problem when you are "online", what is the Screen Resolution set at? The native resolution for this panel is 1024 x 768, this should be your starting point. If that is correct then the problem is in the browser, press and the "minus" (-) key to shrink the view of the browser window, the "plus" (+) key will enlarge it as well.

Can i hook my computer to tv ?

You can connect your Sylvania LC320ss8 to a computer. There is a socket at the back of your TV to connect it with a PC via VGA cable. One end of that cable must be connected to TV, and the other end of the VGA cable must be connected to PC's monitor out jack.. You have to purchase on VGA cable for this purpose, and is available at most of the electronic spare part shops. A "mini-plug audio cable" also is needed to connect the audio from PC to TV. Its one end to be connected to PCs Audio Line Out jack and its other end to TVs PC in audio jack. Both Jacks can be located at the back side of the TV. After connecting it select the TV to receive PC signals according to its manual says. OK.

Isn't plug and Play? Do I need a driver?

The computer SHOULD have a display output. In recent years, various types of connectors have come out to transfer the huge amount of color data to the new screens.
First we are beyond RGB. So lets start from VGA (Video Graphics Array) A fifteen pin D-type connector. This connector is either a part of the mother board (integrated) or as an add on card (expansion). The newer digital display use a DVI connector. some displays may have both. The types of interface on the computer motherboard are also varied, go here for a description;

Although the slots are there, there is no telling what will go into them. Plug and play is a misnomer in that the computer must know what you are plugging into the slot and have the software ready for it. This is technically impossible.

Therefore, you must have drivers to aid the motherboard and software to communicate with the new hardware.
The display usually just takes what ever the computer puts out and displays it as best it can. The signal comes from the video card. If it is set up right (via software) then it will work well.

To test if you are getting a good video signal, use another monitor. If you have an output, then the problem rests with your display and not your computer.

I know this was a roundabout, but it was to let you know about the system.

Good luck and don't forget to vote.

Monitor works but I have a single 8'' green line in the screen. Is there a solution for this problem?

Check the VGA cable (the one with the blue ends, with two screws at each end), one of the pins on the end of the cable might be bent out of shape, and is not connected. check all four ends, both male and female connections, at both ends of the cable, and the point where it connects to the PC.
if the VGA cable is hardwired to the monitor, you have half the job, and just need to check the end of the VGA cable, where it connects to the PC.

My Acer P205H shows up for 1-3 seconds before showing a black screen. Connected DVI Cable but is there a need to connect vga too?

Depending upon the video port/s you have on the graphics card, you need to connector one video cable, either the DVI or the 15pin DSub to the monitor.
