Sony HCD-GRX40AV Cassette Player Belt Layout Diagram Required

Hello,

all four of my belts have fallen off on my stereo tape player. The general service manual I found does not have any detail regarding the mechanical section and layout of the belts. It is called the CWL-44-RR tape player in the HCD-GRX40AV.

Does anyone have a diagram or photos showing how the belts should go?

Thanks in advance.

Hi , i have just spent half of yesterday trying to replace 4 belts in a sony twin player , you wont need a manual just take the cover off and remove the white plastic cover off the cassette unit at the front , after you remove this cover all will be revealed , my opinion is get a repair person to do it for you as it is really fiddly and time consuming plus you have to buy the right belts anyway , hope this helps ..

Tape belts are universal generally. All you do is measure the diameter of the belt in MM and if it is wider than the "string" type the width in MM again. Put the words "cassette drive belt xx MM" into Google. You don't have to precise with the measurements.

I am looking for drive belts for Sony Model TC-WR801ES stereo casette deck

All you need to do is measure the diameter of each belt in MM. Then put "Cassette drive belt ??mm" into Google and you should find a supplier. Belts are not generally specific to any maker. Also you don't need to be precise on the MM. If you are removing them to measure, make a note of how they fit first.

All you need to do is measure the diameter and thickness, then enter the details into google, just start with the diameter you can then elimanate the wrong size (thickness) later. IE enter: 60mm Drive Belt.

motor belts are cheap. try replacing the belt that drives the wheel. this become distorted specially when the unit has not been use for quit long time. if you think its not about belt, clean up the rubber that touches the tape when played, also the tape head with 70% alcohol. hope this help.

Sounds to me like the belt drive is slipping!
Need to open her up and check tightness of belt and probably try to buy another one which will be tighter!
