shoprider powerchair model 6runner 14 HD(888WNLLHD)after about 2 hours it looses its charge and the red light starts blinking. I turn it off and then back on, it goes to amber light. then in about 10 minutes or less it goes back to blinking. I charge it up with the charger and in about 2 hours it shows a full charge but will go down quickly.

I am having trouble with my scooter I charge it overnight so I can go out the next day when I do it stays at 5 green till I go up a pathway then it goes to 4 then back to 5 once I hit the flat part then I have to cross a street and when I do get to the other street it is at 4 the light goes to 5 but for one second then 4 again there are times it doesn't do this I have had the batteries checked and was told they are good but to have them checked again in four months I was also told by a tech that it could be the weird climates we are having affecting the charge which does make sense but I am concerned I wont go long distances at the moment unless I take a cab the company where I bought it phoned the Pride office but haven't heard back yet so I was just wondering if you might know also how often do I charge it is it okay to charge more than once a day and does turning my lights on at night affect the charge

There are two fuses hidden away under the central floor mat and hatch beneath. Carefully remove the mat taking care not to damage the rubber luggs. Unscrew the hatch and remove, underneath towards the front of the hatch you'll find two standard car fuses, check those. For some reason Pride Mobility don't want you to know about these fuses, when I asked where the charger/ main fuses were they said there weren't any and to go to my provider.

More on Celebrity X motor overheating. Brushes look good. Brake does not seem to be dragging, Batteries are about 5 years old but hold a good charge when not in use for months,

If the motor is overheating, it is drawing far more current out of
the batteries than it is supposed to. Assuming it is 2 x 13v x 33ah
batteries, these are good for about 2 to 3 years on my scooter and 'wheelchair. AGM (absorbent glass mat) lead acid batteries do deteriorate over time due to battery chemistry.

Although the batteries may appear to take a charge
and the voltage 12.6volt x 2 = 25.2 volts nominal, with no load
on them, the motor controller takes a whack of current to get you going.

I have an digital voltmeter/ammeter installed on my Pride XL scooter and I was amazed how much current the motor/motor controller takes from the batteries. 50 to 80amps on startup.

If the battery voltage drops due to the age of the batteries, as the
energy is being used up from them, the current required by the
motor for rotation has to go up, and that will cause overheating of the controller and the motor. It is Ohms law plain and simple
the less voltage available-the more current required to do the
work and current creates the heating effect.

I replace my batteries every two years. Can't take a chance on
being stuck with discharged batteries.

Why wont my celebrity x3 charge

Try the Charging circuit fuses hidden under the mat and floor hatch.
Is the charger OK?
Are the batteries coming to the end of their life?

Is the charging circuit fuse blown? There are two hidden under the floor mat and hatch. Pride say that they don't exist, but there they are and one of mine mine was blown by a faulty XLR lead

Battery fully charged but not power to run

Measure the battery voltage individually. If each battery has less than 10 volts, charge them with an automotive style NON automatic battery charger.

I HAVE A CELEBRITY DX SCOOTER, IT IS 4 YEARS OLD. I HAVE HAD NEW BATTERIES FITTED, BUT THIS LAST 3 MONTHS THE SCOOTER RUNS FROM NORMAL SPEED TO SLOW AND SLUGGISH THEN BACK TO NORMAL EVERY FEW MINUTES.CAN...

Hi John.
The problem could be a worn throttle pot ( wig wag ). Next time you are driving the scooter, try moving the ends of the speed lever slowly up and down, instead of in or out as you normally use it. If the throttle pot is worn, moving the lever this way will make the machine speed up or slow down.
Another cause might be a faulty battery lead connector or a faulty motor connector.
Good luck. Neil.

Problems with Pride Celebrity X 4-Wheel Electric ScooterFree tech support for Pride Celebrity X 4-Wheel Electric Scooter and help with Pride ... the scooter suddenly stops. it is an intermittent problem....

It is often a damaged accelerator (Potentiometer). Sometimes the shaft on the wigwag breaks the contacts in the accelerator from being moved too vigorously when going over a bump too fast. A technician would need to repair this for you. Happy scooting. Regards Chris… info@mymobility.co.nz
