My ipod 3rd generation has a white screen and it beeps twice

I tried to turn on the ipod and all it gave me was a white screen. Then it started to beep twice it constantly, randomly beeps until the battery dies out... I tried holding the menu button along with the middle button to see if it starts to work again but it failed. Do you know how to fix this??

Tray this first. Rest the nano

  1. Turn the Hold switch on, then back to off.
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for 10 seconds (until the Apple logo appears).
  3. You may need to repeat the reset several times.
If the reset doesn't help, then put the iPod into forced disk mode.

Put iPod into Disk Mode:

Apple suggests that you ensure your iPod is charged before following the next step. How exactly you check a charge on an iPod screen that is completely white has yet to be revealed. But hey, give it a shot anyway. Plug the iPod into a high-powered USB port, let it sit for 2 hours, then disconnect it. If you have a wall charger, plug in the iPod, then follow these steps while it is still plugged in.
  1. Turn the Hold switch on, then back to off.
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears
  3. Immediately switch your figures to press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until "Disk Mode" appears at the top.

For a lot of people, this solves the problem. Connect the iPod to the computer and (assuming it shows up) reset the iPod again to get it out of Disk Mode. If at this point you still have the white screen, restore the iPod using the restore function in iTunes under the Summary tab (this will erase everything on the iPod and put it at factory settings).

Don't disconnect or eject the iPod until the store is totally done. After you think it's done, wait another five minutes.

I have the same problem with a nano, and I STILL haven't solved it, but whenever I stick it in the freezer for about an hour(an hour because I often forget that I put it there...I recommend five minutes like it's supposed to be.) the light comes on, but only when it's laying on a flat surface.

My ipod screen is blank!! HELP!!!

First try to reset it, do this by holding down the "Menu" button and the middle button for about 7-8 seconds. If it still doesn't work, try restoring it. Plug it into your computer and open iTunes. Now select your iPod in the list to the left, then click the button that says "Restore," it`s located right under the picture of your iPod model.
Hope this helps!

this seems like a hardware problem, most likely you have to send the ipod in for repairs.

you can try another reset and even attempt a restore from this page

reset on the top, restore in the bottom.

White screen and beeps

Try This next time ....
Not all, but many 5G iPod owners have had issues with the latest iPod updates, I had this problem myself a day ago & was almost ready to send it in for a replacement, some HAVE sent theirs in. Anyways, after updating the iPod the iPod no longer works!! All you get is a blank white screen (White Screen Of Death), 3 beeping tones and you hear the hard drive click. Simply resetting the iPod will do nothing, but get you another three beeps & a click. But to resolve this issue do the following, this had worked for me as well as others...

Extended Reset
1) Move the LOCK to the "ON" position.
2) Move it back to the "OFF" position.
3) Hold the "Centre" button then hold down the "MENU" button until you hear the harddrive make the "click" noise.
4) As soon as you hear the drive "click" press and hold the "Centre" button then press & hold the Play/Pause button, you should then see the Apple Logo" like normal and it should then start up like with no problem.
