Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80 Digital Camera

Photos come out orange-brown

After using the camera on nightframing mode, the pictures all come out looking sepia, and it looks like sepia through the display, too, but it is NOT on the sepia setting. I can still look at photos I took earlier, and the color is fine, but every photo I took after that one is orangey-brown! Help! It is really a sony cybershot dsc -v3

Thanks, I did that right away.

I think the problem is that it somehow isn't switching back from night shot mode, something is stuck on the inside I think. It doesn't "sound" right when I put the night shot/night framing button.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

If the reset previously suggested fails, then you'camera is beyond economic repair.

The click which you hear when the nightframing or nightshot modes are selected are where the camera removes an optical filter which protects the CCD from either infra red damage or ultra violet (can't recall which one, sorry). If you leave the camera set to either of the nightshooting modes in daylight then the CCD can quickly suffer permanent damage.

One other possibility (and I've just risked my DSC-V1 to check!) is that the nighframing/nightshot has failed to return the filter into position; I only tried this briefly, but there was indeed a sepia cast to the live view and to photographs. The linkage between the switch and the lever is not mechanical, but you have nothing to lose by trying to open your camera and reseating any flexible printed circuit boards or wire connectors which may have loosened.

If all else fails, you can get a used DSC-V£ in excellent condition far less than the cost of repairs and can get a bit of money back if you sell your broken one as spare parts are in demand.

Addendum: The filter I was referring to is an IR filter, and definitely not a UV one.
Typo in last paragraph: Should read DSC-V1

How do i take a black and white and sepia photo on olympus SP800UZ

The SP 800UZ doesn't have a black-and-white or sepia mode. You can convert a color picture to black-and-white or sepia by editing the picture on the camera. Full details are in the "Edit" section of the manual (page 38 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one from the manufacturer's web site at

In general, you're better off converting to black-and-white or sepia using photo editing software on a computer rather than doing it on the camera. The computer will give you much better control over things like brightness and contrast.

Hi my Sony DSC-W530 isn't taking black&white nor sepia pictures... is it the camera or can I find the setting, if I there is a setting where can I find it? Many thanks.

The DSC-W530 does not have black&white or sepia modes. Just about any photo editing program should allow you to convert color pictures to black&white. Doing it on a computer gives you much more control over things like brightness and contrast than letting a camera do it.

How to make a black & white picture?

See the instructions in the "Shooting in a My Colors Mode" section of the manual (page 62 in my copy). Among your choices are "B/W" for black&white and "Sepia" for an old-fashioned brown-tinted look.

If you need a manual, you can download one from the manufacturer's web site at

How do you take black and white pictures?

Press MENU to display the menu, then select the Shooting menu.

The first item should be "Color", which lets you select the color mode. You can choose B&W for black-and-white or Sepia for sepia-toned.

Take a look under "Shooting Menu" in your manual. It's on page 32 in my copy.

Thank you for using
FixYa for your problem

Are the pictures only showing brown in the camera lcd, when you transfer to you PC they are correctis yes, then your camera is faulty. It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.
