Question about Gateway (4530GZ) PC Notebook

Drivers for Gateway 4530GZ

I have clean installed windows 7 RC1 over an XP home installation on my Gateway 4530GZ.

after the installation i don't have audio, or wireles drivers (and I'm sure more but these are the most important). The CD that came with the laptop that has the drivers tells me that they don't work on this operating system.

I'm aware that i only need Vista drivers, but can't even find them on the web (including the GateWay site) for this model laptop.

Anyone know where i can get vista drivers for this laptop?

Thanks for that - unfortunetly when i go to that gateway site all the drivers are for XP only and when i try to install them they pop up a message box indicating that they're not for this operating system.

    Any other thoughts?

I cant find a ethernet driver for windows 7 home premium for my acer aspire t120c after updating from windows xp home 32 bit

Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "AcerSupport" (without the quotes). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download andinstall the drivers. If you don't see windows 7 drivers, maybe the vista drivers will work. Give it a try.

Upgraded windows 7 from windows xp pro on gateway profile 5.5, but cannot change resolution. All icons are huge.

First of all Un-installed/format it your system and re-installed windows 7 and see it happen again or not? May be, while upgrading your windows XP to windows 7 some file may be left over so while running your OS (operating system) file cannot read properly.

thanks for using FixYa Good luck

Hi,

To my knowledge you cannot upgrade from Windows XP directly to Windows 7. You will have to upgrade to Vista and then to 7. Also there are limitations as to which Windows 7 version (Home, Professional, Ultimate) you can upgrade to from certain Vista versions.

If you dont have any information / data on the PC that you mind loosing, i suggest a clean install of Windows 7 by booting up from the Windows 7 dvd and formating the HDD before the installation procedure.

Windows 7 has a host of built in drivers that will probably cover all of the devices that are present on your system. If not then you can always download the drivers from the manufacturers site for the items that fail to install automatically under 7.

Let me know how it goes.

Downloaded window 7 on my netbook and forgot to backup before installing i had xp

Sadly, there is no direct upgrade path for XP (pro or home) to Windows 7, only Vista. Windows 7 from XP requires a clean install.

Still, check the hard drive and see if Windows 7 moved the files to another location. It installs differently from XP or Vista and there may be a chance they are still somewhere on the drive. Use the search feature to look for a known file and see what happens.

FN+ F2 doesn't seem to enable the wireless switch on our Gateway 4530. Help?

You can check to make sure your drivers are installed using the drivers disk gateway provided. If they did not provide you one you can visit support.gateway.com and enter your serial number to view the files available for download.

If that fails your wireless card is most likely defective.
