Just use a cable with 8 mm stereo jack (on the iMac side) and then connect your speakers. By the way, the speakers MUST be amplified or be connected to an amplifier.

Setting up an alias on my imac to ransfer downloaded files directly to itunes movies

Hi David,
Unfortunately, iTunes must manage all files added to iTunes itself.
You cannot add a file directly into it's database without going through iTunes import mechanism. That's the whole point of having an App like iTune to manage and store media files in the most optimum manner.

I have hk 3390 reciever

What I did is bought a splitter, plugged it in the headphone jack at the back of the iMac. One side goes to my computer external speakers and one to my receivers aux input, or tape one input. I works, just make sure that the volume on your iMac is not higher than half way, or your sound might be distorted and your external computer speakers are off. Not unless you want them on. Keep your iTunes EQ set to flat, that also will create unwanted distortion. Use you receiver tone controls if needed. Hope this works for you, that's how I did it.

How can I use my second monitor on the iMac via VPN/RDP?

Hi Jessiejeh55,

It sounds like you are using the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection client for Mac.

  1. Open Remote Desktop Connection
  2. Select the connection you wish to use with both displays
  3. Right-click and choose Edit
  4. Check the "Use all monitors" box at the bottom
Thanks

Have outdoor speakers but will not play sound, they are connected to a xantech pa1235x and the indoor speakers work but not the outside ones

Check the reciever and verify if you have a selector swicth pressed for A speakers and B speakers and see if this helps...

Some recievers will only power A or B, not both at the same time.

Lets not assume your outdoor speakers work. Would be helpful to know if you have tried to disconnect the inside set and plugged the outside speakers in those stereo jacks. If no sound, your speakers may have loose wires on the inside of the box/cabinet/case or they could be no good period.

If they do work, and the system does not provide all four jacks to be powered at the same time. You may consider buying a pair of piggy back rca jacks. Plug in the indoor and outdoor speakers into the same connectors the indoor ones are on now.

That way at least you can run them all at the same time from the speaker connector where you have the indoor speakers hooked up..

Hopefully you'll find something useful in this

Good Luck

Respectfully

Connecting outdoor speakers thru satellite box

go audio out of you sat box into a 2 channel amp or into your surround receiver if you have a 2nd zone, if the surround receiver is 7.1 u can most likely hook them up to the surround back and then change the setting to be a 2nd zone instead of surr back hope this helps.

Is it possible to connect my PC to my outdoor speakers? I want to play music outside using my PC. Is there a special connector that I need?

There are a couple of ways to go about this. The first would be to locate a similar computer speaker system set up outside - provide power and extend the cable to them - if not too far. When you want to listen to the outside speakers, plug the cable into the headphone jack of the computer. Adjust volume and enjoy.

Another way, would be to buy (or build from kit form) a low power FM transmitter. These devices are available in mono & stereo types and will play over all FM radios and stereos in a 50 to 300+ foot radius (depending on antenna, wall construction, transmitter power, etc.) when they are tuned to the transmitter frequency. These can be found for under $100 or built for as little as $30 or so. The upside to this method is that the music is available over ALL radios nearby.

Still another way is a wireless speaker system. This works like the FM transmitter, but will only work on these particular speakers. These will require power only - but some will work from internal batteries as well as AC power. The system includes a small transmitter, power cord & cable to plug into a headphone jack - all for use at the computer, and two speakers - each with a power cord as well and possibly a remote control.

Use of a spare pair of old stereo speakers will probably not work as the computer's sound card rarely develops more than a watt or two - and most home speakers require 10 or more watts to be driven properly.

Trying to connect two outdoor speakers

More than likely you connected it to the Speaker B terminals in the rear of your receiver. Look for a button or switch on the front and change to either Speaker B for outside only or A&B for indoors and outdoors.
