when I pull the crisper out I see a little water in the back right corner....could the drain be clogged? As the water collects it runs down then out to the floor....not much and not all the time

  • usfly1 May 24, 2009

    there is a cover...looks like a large intestine...should I remove it?

  • usfly1 May 24, 2009

it doesn't seem to be dripping....still just a bit of moister in the back right corner though

  • usfly1 May 24, 2009

drank is dry and currently no wetness in the corner...no water on upper shelves

  • usfly1 May 24, 2009

no problem....thank you for trying to help!! I have looked at all the stuff in the fridge and found nothing leaking. That is why I thought perhaps there was a drain around there that could be clogged...it's not much water but enough to cause a small puddle when it collects...just noticed it yesterday and one time today

  • usfly1 May 24, 2009

where is the drain on the freezer side?

  • usfly1 May 24, 2009

I hate to sound stupid but...do you mean pull the fridge out and look behind it....or inside the fridge....where do I look in the freezer to see if the drain is clogged?

  • usfly1 May 24, 2009

it's all solid on the freezer side on the bottom right corner....seems like I read somewhere about a drain that can get frozen over near the ice maker....

  • usfly1 May 24, 2009

by rear panel do you mean the back of the fridge or on the inside of the freezer?

  • usfly1 May 24, 2009

thanks for you help...I removed the panel...could not find the drain hole...ugggg.....think I will try again tom.

Hi, It sounds like the tank for the fresh water dispenser. Is it coming from the tank on the back wall of the fresh food section?
I can not find the part # but, if this is the source of the leak, I can give other ideas.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

There are no drains in the freshfood section on most newer models. Try and look closely at the water tank please

  • Victor
    Victor May 24, 2009

That is it. You can get it loose and see if there is a wet spot or even if it is dripping.

While you have the tank in your hand, try getting water out of the dispenser and see if you can see a leak. Are you seeing any water on the upper shelfs?

But you have had enough that it ran out onto the floor? Is it possible something leaked from the shelf above? Thanks you for being patient with allmy questions. I just want to help.

Ok, You might want to look in the freezer side and make sure there is no ice building up in the drain. Sometime the water will bleed through the air vents to the fresh food side. Again, another idea. Maybe try and leave the drawers out a day or so and catch it in the act.

    Victor May 24, 2009

    Yes, behind the rear panel

  • Victor
    Victor May 24, 2009

I don't think that at all. You should look inside the freezer, at the bottom rear corner. You might not see any, I am just trying toeliminate all possibilities

Remove the rear panel and melt all that ice. (Hair dryer works good) Make sure the ice down in the drain hole is gone also. Flush the drain hole qith hot water once you get it clear.

    I hope this has helped

    Back panel inside the freezer

  • Victor
    Victor May 24, 2009

Ok, If there was a lot of ice, it might be under it. There has to be a drain for the defrosting.

    Good Luck Sir.

Please feel free to rate my performance so that others as well as myself know how I am doing.

    Thanks

Water is leaking inside of the refrigerator on the (if you are looking into the fridge) the left side. I cannot tell where it is coming from - i see no dripping from anywhere but it sits in puddles on the...

I have a Whirlpool Top-mount refrigerator. Whirlpool also manufactures many of the Kenmore refrigerators.

A few weeks ago I noticed a puddle of water on the top right shelf in the refrigerator section. I figured out that it must be the water that forms during the defrost cycle and normally drains down through a tube in the back into an evaporator tray beneath the refrigerator. Something was preventing the water from draining away and instead it was dripping through the overflow holes from the freezer into the refrigerator section.

I emptied the freezer and took off the back panel. It actually wouldn't come off at first because all the water beneath the defrost heater which should have been draining out the drain hole was frozen into one solid block of ice. I used a hair dryer to melt the ice (took a while - be patient) and then took off the panel.

To melt all the rest of the ice in the drain tube I used the hair dryer. To clear out the ice in the drain tube, I used a turkey baster and kept putting down hot water until I heard water making it down to the evaporator tray beneath the refrigerator.

The following mod is "try at your own risk" (I wouldn't do this if you still have warranty coverage - call a tech instead):
I made this modification to prevent the problem from recurring (at least that's the hope): Wrapped a piece of wire (unbent a large paper clip) around the defrost cycle heater and stuck it into the drain hole. The theory is that the wire will heat up every time the defrost cycle runs and will keep the drain hole from freezing shut.

One thing I noticed during this repair concerns the drip pan beneath the defrost heater in the freezer (this is the pan that collects the water that is melted off the coils during defrosting). The drip pan does not seem to be angled properly so that the water will drain normally towards the drain hole. I guess water could remain behind then freeze later. I reported this to Whirlpool.

Ice accumulation on the bottom of the freezer

Your drain line is clogged, that is located behind the white wall inside of the freezer. The water comes from defrost cycle, that happens every 8-12 hours. You need to defrost it and snake it.

I have water puddling up under my Vegetable bins

Our fridge had the same problem with water under the crispers. My husband removed the slide out bottom out of the freezer section and exposed the galvanized trough that drains the defrost water into the drainage tube that goes to the tray under the refrigerator. Hallelujah! the galvanized trough was rusted through and allowing water to drip into the refrigerator instead of the drain hose. I have not found the trough on any parts lists so he is patching it with putty.

Water pooling under my express thaw bin in bottom of refrigerator

no connection between lower drawer and water dispenser, however there is a water tank behind the crisper's storing water for the dispenser, its possible that there is a hole in the tank or a connection is leaking there and dripping water. remove all 3 crisper's and give a look at it. try getting water from dispenser while your checking (Might only leak when water dispenses
