Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF-50WE620 Television
My Sony starts to power up; the lamp (my second) ignites (for a few seconds) and the optics block fan slowly starts up then stops and everything shuts down. It flashes red 4 times. I cleaned the two outer fans and was able to test each fan so they all work. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Projection TV has 3 fans,11V applied to each inividually all fans operate with external dc applied.
the 4 blinks problem in tv is due to the third fan in the tv not working properly.the two fans are easily seen in the tv at its back.but the third fan which is not seen easily is the fan in the optical block.the third fan is located under the optical block assembly. The power supply board is the "G" borad which in turn sends the 11V to the "A" board. The "A" board controls the fans. Unfortunately the "A" board is tough to work on but it does have 3 ICs for fan control: Fan 1 is IC8003, Fan 2 is IC8005 and Fan 3 is IC8006.the first fan is outer fan.the second fan is the one on the lamp assembly and the third on in the optical block assembly.when you call a sony tech ,they will just replace all the three fans.and this problem of 4 blinks will get cleared.but actually this problem is only related to the third fan in optical block assebly.replacing the fan in the optical block assembly solves the issue of 4 blinks.but replacing the fan from the optical block assembly is not the easy job as replacing the other two fans.it is the toughest job to do.because to remove the fan you will have to remove the optical block assembly too.but after you remove the assembly while refitting the assembly back after replacing the fan.the optical assembly should be fitted in exact position as it was fitted before.if any difference in fitting the tv will not work properly.so its advisable that it should be done by profession tv repair person.this problem is solvable.that is sure.

Four blinks indicates a fan problem, i.e. no power, a loose connector or clogged fans. You need to remove the rear cover and take a look at the fan.also if its moving that does not indicates its proper.just take a look at the fan wires if the wires are bit weak the fan will start but stop in between as the weak wires will not give proper current to fan to run fluently and it will stop in between.and because the fan stops in betweeen the component to which the fan is cooling gets overheated in friction of seconds and due to that overheating the tv turns off.
this overheating and turning off is not a problem ,actually its the system.it turns off automatically because to avoid further damage,
so the fan actually needs replacement,as the new fan will come with whole new wiring.this will help.
thanks.please do raste the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.
