Could be any number of things, from a bad switch to a fried motherboard or several other components. Where do you want to start?

Emachine won't power on??

from the video the only think i can think of is that some computers have a little red switch that changes from an american standard voltage to european standard make sure that switch is turned to 120v(located in the back of the computer with mouse and keyboard connectors). secondly the other solution if that didn't work the power supply were the plug is connected into for the computer is propably not connected to the motherboard. to do that their is a connector on the power supply that should say P1 that connects to the motherboard. if all that fails have some own or yourself plug something in to the outlet in which you use for your computer to see if the outlet is at fault. If all else fails get a new power supply and have yourself or a computer technician or have a pro technician in PC maintence look at your computer or just buy a new computer.
*hope this was of use to you and sorry for the spelling mistakes*

Hi Nicki,
Sorry, this really sounds bad, it would seem that the hard drive is shot from your description. The data may or may not be recoverable. If you get a new drive, you will have to partition it first, then set it as your Master drive, then set the old one as a slave, install your operating system onto the master drive and try to recover the information on the old drive after you have that done. If you cannot successfully recover the information that way, you most likely won't be able to get it at all unless you backed it up onto a flash or cds or dvds.
Sorry for the news but that is what it sounds like

Will not power up

This is a common problem with Emachine motherboards, the problem is the power supply is a best tech and allows voltage surges to the motherboard which fries it too. If available you usually have to replace both the power supply and motherboard. I do not know what exactly goes bad on the motherboard but I have replaced many emachine power supplies and motherboards. The motherboard kit which used to be available from Emachines included a power supply and no warranty if you didn't change the power supply. They knew they had a problem.

Dear zmatt,

Looks like the power outlet or UPS may be at fault. Try a different outlet. That's all I can thik of.

Good luck!

Emachine power supply

Unfortunately, E-Machines are well known for their power supply problems. I have a room full of them.

Let me guess, you can hear something rattling around in the power supply, right?

When this happens, a component blows cleanly off of the board inside, and sends a voltage spike to the mainboard.

With any luck, the hard drive logic board wasn't damage, and you can recover your data with another PC.

Power Supply Problem

Hi, I came acroos a similar problem on an older model of emachine. If I remember it right what I did was to update the chipset and agp and other drivers (especially the lan card). The T5026 uses Intel 915GV. Most of what you probably would need can be found at http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/Support_Intel.aspx?lang=eng. Most of the updates are chipset and OS specific. Good luck and please let me know how this works out for your. Cheers.
