This is a sign of bad bearings on motor.you might try oiling the shaft where the bearing is at to help it not stop and stick.this is a sign of replacing the motor pretty soon. if unit smaller than a 12,000 btu's better off buying a new ac unit

My goodman unit (1994) makes the loud noise, like a buzzing noise. The unit works, the blower blows air into the house, the air is cold, but the outside fan that blows across the condenser piping isn'

you need to replace your condensing fan motor. the noise you are hearing is the compressor working against a lot of pressure because the heat is building up in you condensing unit. Prolonged operation without an operating condensing fan motor will cause your compressor to burn up, and then you will have the cost of a compressor changeout to the cost of a condensing fan motor.

Since the failure of an air conditioner to turn on, loss of air conditioner cooling capacity, reduced air conditioning output temperatures, loss of cool air supply, or even loss of air flow entirely can be due to a variety of problems with one or more components of an air conditioner or air conditioning system, after reviewing the lost air conditioner cooling diagnosis procedures described in this article, be sure to also review the diagnostic procedures at each of the individual air conditioning diagnosis and repair major topics listed just below. To return to our air conditioning and refrigeration home page go to AIR CONDITIONING & HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS.

Electrical problems on HVAC systems: Keep in mind that despite the depth of technical detail you will find here about all components of air conditioners and heat pumps, most service calls for non-working air conditioners or heat pumps turn up an electrical problem. So if your A/C system is just not working at all be sure to check all of our electrical and control setting suggestions first.

Mechanical problems on HVAC systems: tend to fall into these groups: refrigerant leaks, dirty condenser coil or unit, dirty evaporator or cooling coil, or burned out (or hard-starting) compressor motors. We have also seen a number of problems with fans and fan motors in both the compressor/condenser unit and in the air handler/blower fan unit. Some of those fan problems are mechanical - like a loose fan belt or blade. MORE DETAILS

Why does it get very hot around the door's perimeter?

The door is heated so it doesn't stick shut with ice. It may be that the condenser is clogged or the fan isn't running, causing excessive heat in the strip. Clean the condenser thoroughly and check the fan.

Does the fan turn freely or is it hard to turn by hand? If it is hard to turn the fan motor may need to be replaced. If it isn't hard to turn then check the fan capacitor. You can test it with a multimeter or take it to a heating and air supply and get them to test it. A fan will run with a bad capacitor if you get it started but it will not start with one. Let me know what you find.

I have replace the second capacitor and now the condenser fan motor has burned up it was smoking and humming need help. The capacitor rating is correct on the capacitor and condenser fan motor.

Hi, if the condenser fan motor was smoking, its no good now. The motor was bad before you put the new run cap on, and when you hit the power it finished it off. You will need to replace the motor. If you are going to take this on your self, you can probably get a motor where you got the new run capacitor. Just draw you a diagram on the wiring so you don't forget how they go. Its either that, or have it done for you. This is a common motor that goes out due the the work it does removing heat and working in the heat all day. This is all that you can do, is replace it. The motor is what took out the other capacitor as it was weak and going out. The new cap just helped it along. Call around to get an estimate for a total price, not by the hour!! They will stick it to you if not.

My ac turns on but just humms, no fan no cold air. a lil gurgling. it worked in my driveway, but when i arrived i can't get it to turn on.

your compressor is starting but the fan(s) are not running, leading to the shut-down of the unit, especially if the condenser fan doe's not operate for heat transfer off the condenser coil to remove the "latent" heat generated by the compressor so it is short cycling and will not keep running to cool this area

A/C Samsung spilt ( working fine then after 8 hours gives warm air)

It sounds to me like your fan cycling switch is sticking while the unit is cycling off (fans). When this happens your condenser does not have the ability to remove the heat from the refrigerant which in turn causes the compressor to load heavy. This creates a very high pressure condition on the high side. When this happens go outside and see if the condenser fans are running.

Hope this helps You
