Does your monitor have more than one cord?If yes one should be white, which you connect to your gpu.The other should be blue. The blue one is vga,and will connect directly to the mb.Turn off the pc and disconnect the white cord and connect the blue. This should get you a picture. Now down load the newest Direct X and install then power down and switch the cords back.

I have a acer aspier 3515-2153 laptop. It wont go to the user screen.it will turn on say configuring updates then it shuts off agin. How do i fix it i cant afford another computer pleasehelp!!!

HI Steel,

For this you dont need to buy another computer.
Follow the steps.
1. Try safe boot, F8 key @ BIOS screen just after you turn on the system. Choose safe boot from menu.
2. In safeboot.
Go to control pannel and choose option Show windows updates. else they may also be visible by default.
3. Minimise the window.
4. after you find the system is turned up completely.
close the opened window without touching anything.
5. give the system a complete shutdown.
6. reboot.
7. System may say " System has recovered after a serious error"

Still if it does not works.

1.insert the OS disk.
2. choose to follow wizard seriously reading each step.
3. It will ask you ro repair your OS.
Choose this option.
4. let the system recover (The process is slow; may take 30 mins or more)

I can't find the System Recovery option in the Control Panel after I went from Windows 7 back to Windows Vista due to some problems.

you will not find system recovery options in control pannel, as it is either in the systm tools or you can get it from advance boot menu options by pressing F8 key on start up of computer ,
second way to get system restore is type system restore in start search box and it will show it , third way click on start then all programs , then accessories then system tools , you will find option of system restore.

Getting a blue screen stop error, but cant log

Please try to start from the beginning and reformat the hard drive by shutting down the system with the cd drawer open. Then insert the windows disk and turn on the pc then the drawer closes and when it tells you boot from cd press enter. Then windows will load. It will give you a couple of options. Always choose format partition. Then you should not have any problems. Unless your hard drive is bad.

Dell Dimension 5150 (& WinXP) - failure to boot up

you could try booting into safe mode, then you could try a system restore
look for the F8 option at the bottom after the first boot window,

youll know youve got it when you get the option to boot into safe mode, if this works you should get to your desktop, if you get the admin login its normally admin as user and leave the password blank.

if you cant get into safe mode, wait till you gt the recovery disks and try a system recovery before reinstalling

Powersave problem

If you are using a desktop computer, chances are that you don't want the computer to go to sleep automatically. This is even more the case if you are running Vista in a virtual machine for testing purposes.
Disabling power management is simple and easy. First go to the start menu and click on the Control Panel.
Click on the System and Maintenance link

Then click on the Power Options link:

It will disable automatic sleep mode, but will still turn off display.\
You can click on change plan to disable.

If you are using XP than.

Open control pannel-> click on power option -> keep turn off monitor setting to never.
