did you replace the fuel in the tank or just use the existing fuel from last season? Gas has a "shelf life" and will start turning unusable after a period of time. Try draining the tank, the carb, and if you can, remove the carb bowl and wipe it clean.
Then refill with new gas... you can also buy a conditioner that will allow you to store your mower with the gas in it each season... used it on our boat with great success..

Yes it is a gummy carbeurator. Put in fresh gas if you havn't already and put in a new spark plug. Then get a can of carbeurator cleaner and follow the directions to get your carb up and running again. While you are at it I would also install a new air filter.

Where is the rpm and idle screw located on a 2005 Craftsman riding mower

place throttle control to full throttle. loosen the clamp on the throttle cable at the carb control. pull the cable tight and retighten the clamp. That is your adjustment for full throttle. The idle screw is located on an external tab on the end of the throttle shaft.

Why does my craftsman 2-cycle model 316.791860. Gas trimmer die?

Those little carbs clog very easily and what you experience is a common symptom. Go to any bog box home store and in the mower area pick up a can of small engine carb cleaner.
Remove the carb, take it apart as far as you comfortably can and soak all pieces in a can/jar of CLEAN gasoline for 10 -15 mins. Agitate to get the gas moving.
Remove the carb, and drip clean then use the carb cleaner to blow out every port you can see. reassemble and install the carb, it should work fine.
Before storing for the winter drain all gas from the tank and start it allowing the machine to run till it stalls out due to no gas. You should be fine for next season that way.

It sounds like you have a bad Ignition Coil (Module). This is how they act when they start going bad. When they get warm, they quit. Some will last up to 20 minutes before they shut down. You can sometimes find a used one pretty cheap at a small engine shop.

I have an old Craftsman 286707 riding lawn mower that will turn over but not start - ideas of where to look - it worked fine 4 days ago for the first time this season but took about 5 tries

Did you have gas in it over the winter? I would try some starting fluid and see if its fuel related or something else.. If it will run with a little starting fluid for a minute then you have some kind of fuel issue.. Gas with ethanol blend is bad for carbs over the winter. .. I would use some really good fuel stabilizer once you get it working again.

My Craftsman 675 190cc starts in full throttle what could be causing this

sounds like the carburetor is a little gummy and when the engine shuts off it goes to full throttle by the govenor for easy starting but is supposed to return to the set 3600 rpm. try spraying carb clean on the carb and wiggle the govenor arm to make sure it move freely

Lawn mower will not start and run

Sounds like a clogged carb or a cracked primer bulb. I would install a carb rebuild kit and new primer bulb if your mower uses one.

When my 20hp Craftsman lawn tractor cranks it does not quit pumping gas in to the carburator, and floods it out - what do I need to look for??????

Sounds like you have a Float in the Carb has a hole in it or it is getting stuck open there is a needle valve that it pushes on when the bowl is full and it sounds like its not or something is stopping it,, did it have gas in it all winter? ,, I would buy a Carb kit for that model and change out all the parts that come in the kit and clean the carb
