Question about Apex Digital AVL2076 20 in. EDTV-Ready LCD Television
I have a Philips 50PFP5342D or 50PFP5332D (I don't know which) hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V661 home theatre; the cable is from COX and it is a HD-DVR.
I am only getting sound on some channels; the others have a perfect picture just no sound. (It is not the cable company as a tech. has already come and put in a new box and the same thing is happening). The TV remote does not have a SAP or MTS button on it; when I go to the menu with the TV remote and get to the SOUND option I can not select the SAP feature because it is not bolded, as though it is not an option to even select. I have spoken with the Philips people and they said that if your TV is running through a cable box then the SAP is not operable. The Yamaha home theatre system does not have an SAP button either.
Commercials do not work on some channels and do work on others. PLEASE HELP!Q!!!!

All plasma an lcd TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times reseating the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them, but it is very easy to wreck em.
