Samsung ML-2510 will not print from MAC OS on Macbook
I have gotten this to print from the PC side, but it will not print from the MAC side. The software is installed. When I ask it to print, the light on the printer starts flashing and then the job stops. I am printing from Firefox. I just tried it from Word after deleting the other documents. It told me there are stopped jobs and I told it to go ahead anyway because I had deleted the stopped jobs. It seriously tried to print, whirring and flashing, but then the job stopped again. More than that, as others have said, it looks like it has not really let go of the stopped jobs, although they are no longer listed.
This is pretty maddening!!
Hope someone has an idea.
I did use the CD to install the printer, although, and this may be relevant, I tried it first without it.
My problem is with a mac mini, just as one of the users that tried the appletalk solution (solution #3). But it doesn't work for me. I have a mac mini, leopard (10.5) and the printer is the samsung ml-2510. I tried with the cd, I downloaded the driver as of today. Then I tried appletalk just as suggested by solution #3 (I activated appletalk, then I removed the printer and tried to add a new one but the only one available is the ml-2510 usb. there is no choice for a "Samsung AppleTalk printer" just as mentionned in the message.
please help!!! firstname.lastname@example.org
same exact problem. I down loaded v 4.6 (161.9) and cannot print anything

You need the accessory that permits two sided printing. Check HP web site for that part to make sure you have it and have it installed. Once installed, if you have the HP printer driver software installed and up to date for your computer operating system (PC or MAC), when you request a PRINT you will see PROPERIES button in the print dialog box. Tap that button and scroll down to TWO Sided Printing. That's it.
This is a setting that will only stay active for the current print job. If you want the default to be two sided printing you can set that in the HP Solution Center under Printer Settings.
HP has not yet released Driver software for your MAC LION however there is a solution for this. In order to print 2 sided ( duplex printing ) you need to install drivers and it is possible by doing Apple Update. The link below will give you more details information of how to install the drivers.
Did you install the software from the CD or did you download the driver? Are you using Snow Leopard?
If you have Snow Leopard and used the CD, you don't have the most recent drivers. Here is the link to the MP640 drivers. Remove the drivers currently on your imac and download and install from here, including the scanner driver and the MP Navigator (listed under Software).
Did you install the Canon software?
Most canon's will print without any software being installed on a mac. Scanning needs the software.
Anyway. Do this.
Open your applications folder and look for an app called "Image capture"
When it opens up it should - all being well - recognise the scanner and do an automatic preview. Once it's done that select what you want to scan by drawing a box around it, this should activate the scan button. Press that and it will probably ask what you want to do with the scan and what sort of file you want.
I'll leave that up to you to decide.
You may find that the next time you try to scan (on another occassion that is - not doing another scan straight away after the first) that the scanner is not recognised. It happens periodically with some Canon MPs and I don't know why. If it does happen, the easiest solution is to restart the mac. Sometimes unplugging the USB and replugging sorts it.
setting up auth. on mac requires that you open the doc on appropriate app, on print menu select output method, set auth. credentials, and save. then print. some mac OSX ver. will save others won't. prompting you to set auth, every time you need printing.
Hi, sorry to hear you are having problems,
OK, first of all, you can stop worrying about solution #3, this printer is a USB or Parallel, there is no networking on this printer so no possibility of an AppleTalk connection.
You say you have downloaded the latest version of the driver from the Samsung website.
And, the Mac is connected DIRECTLY to the printer via USB.... ( It won't work if it's connected to a PC and then shared.. well it might work but I have not been able to make this kind of connection work...)
Well, if this is the case and you are unable to print while the PC prints fine, I expect that it is over the Parallel port or do you plug and un-plug between the Mac and PC...
It might be that the printer needs to reset after switching between the Mac and the PC, Shut off the Printer, I mean really, shut it down, unplug it for 30 seconds then connect it to the Mac and restart the Mac and start up the printer....
If it still does not work, do you have another Mac you can connect to for testing?
Also, the first test should not be FireFox, open the Text Edit app and type ( TEST ) and just print that...
Give that a whirl..
I had the same problem and found the solution on the Apple discussion boards. Apparently, OSX 10.4 installs the printer as a Lexmark 510 series, not a Samsung ML-2510.
Just add a new printer and change the type from Lexmark 510 series to ML-2510 series.
Worked a charm for me!
