Question about Microwave Ovens

Microwave buzz with door closed and off This is a GE JVM1443WR Spacesaver... Microwave works, all buttons work, interior light works, and it will heat food... However, even when the microwave is off and not in use I hear a buzzing noise... (But only when the door is closed) Buzzing stops when door is open... I have opened the cabinet and plugged it in to see where the noise is coming from and found that the Magnetron is making the noise and it began to smoke... My question is: As it still does heat food and work, is there something else causing the Magnetron to power up when it is not supposed to or is this simply a Magnetron going bad???

You can check the relay and related driving circuit. If there is a short in the relay driving circuit there is chance for this type of problem. or the micro processor may be defective.

The relays contacts are probably fused together. This is caused by them maki g a poor connection (resistive) and basically melting together.

Before replacing, check to see if power is being turned off and on to the relays coil. If it's on continuously, the the control panel is probably defective.

With the door closed, the oven makes a buzzing sound. If I try to microwave something, the interior light lights, the turntable turns, the normal fan sounds while the buzzing sound continues. No heat is...

You can possibly have a bad diode and or magnetron. When working on microwaves you have to be very cautious of what you are touching there is a capacitor inside that stores a voltage and can cause physical harm if not discharged.

Start button an 1/2 buttons on keypad no work in my GE JVM150H microwave. Interior light also stays on.

The door has latch switches that are part of the protection and operation when door is closed, is the new door identical and switches match up {same number} if everything checks and the door switches are all working, the door needs to be checked for alignment, if it's out a small margin the switches will not operate properly.

Have ge profile spacesaver xl sensor. will not heat strange buzzing sound and burning smell. clock, light, vent still work

This is most likely a defective magnetron, especially with the burning smell. There are two other parts that can be a problem, the high voltage capacitor and diode, all three work together to heat food. If the magnetron is the culprit, probably cheaper to replace the microwave oven.

Keypad number buttons not working on ge spacesaver microwave - auto program buttoms work?

Very angry. Fairly new, little-used Spacesaver Microwave [3][Clock][Surface Light] buttons now do not work. We never even press [3], just [1] and [2] to warm sandwiches.
Unplugged for an hour. Still not working. Everything else works. We never use anything else. Bad solder joint in circuit board or keypad?
Thank you.

G.E. Spacemaker XL1800- Loud constant buzzing noise. Help

My microwave was totally dead. Things I discovered: 1) There is an easily replacable fuse accessed by taking off the top front vent cover (two screws on top, gently massage off) and then the inside plastic grill. UNPLUG before doing this! 2) Pop off two wires on either end of fuse holder for safety. Then pop out fuse and replace. For more extensive help, there is an evelope with a wiring diagram inside the case on the inside wall! Very helpful when diagnosing the surface lamp problem (I forgot to plug the ballast back in when I closed up the bottom).

Buzzing noise, wont work???

The magnatron is shorting, overloading the high voltage transformer. From the picture this looks like an older unit and is probably not worth a magnatron replacement.
