Somewhere in the course of trying to hook up a dual boot system so I could run a piece of hardware that doesn'tn have vsta drivers, I rebooted and I get a slow steady beep beep beep. I checked all the connections, even removed hard drives, and put a frwesh empty hard drive in to install a copy of xp,but it insistes on doing the same thing,, just the beeps, maybe 1 second apart and nothing on the screen

I spent an hr online with a tech and he came up with the motherboard was out. I tried clearing the bios via removing battery, and tried booting with hd's and cdrom and ram disconnected... There was a minor variation ijn the sequence of the beep.. Right now its 1 and 2 shorts. MCP61SM-AM.. I am not sure if thats the mobo # or not,, Than ks for your response.. I am looking for the receipt so I can carry it back to Wally World.
The beeps that you are hearing are messages created by the POST (Power On Self Test) to indicate that something is wrong. If you know your motherboard type it is possible to find the documentation explaining what 3 beeps mean.
Because we don't know the motherboard type (At least for now) let's use the common sense. Did you verify that the power supply is properly connected to the drive? Can you confirm that removing the second Hard drive it boot again ok? In some type of BIOS 3 beeps means memory problem. By accident did you touch the memory? Are all the ribbon cables well plugged in?

I find that I cannot navigate the program. I went from a concord that you chose your book, typed in the topic and then printed it. This edition is so complicated that I find that I am at a loss before I get started. It would be helpful to me, if there was a more explanatory manual. Patrice triciawhit@sbcglobal.net

I recently decided to try to upgrade my HP Slimline S3500t, 64 bit vista home computer's video card, but as i was researching it I found out that i needed to not only upgrade the video card but through upgrading the video card it would need a new power supply because of the low voltage on the stock one, so my question is if you could possibly give me the best low profile video card that i could put in it and a power supply to go along with it, links of course the power supply can be mounted on the outside of my case, but i would prefer it to be inside. Thanks
