Question about Ovens

Oven shuts off by itself

Kenmore digital stove - the oven turns off and comes right back on again but the oven has to be turned back on, the clock reset and the timer reset. I can't back anything without being inthe room to wee when the clock is flashing so I know I have to restart it and guess at how long it still needs to bake. I don't have a problem with the stove shutting off when just using the burners and there are no other problems that I am aware of.

Oven stopped working after big power surge. stove still works but oven will not turn on and nor does digital clock

Both the oven and the clock are controled by the main board. The power surge probably destroyed the main board.

I have a kenmore electric stove. The top burner

I have the same problem, it turns out that the clock has a sensor in it to turn on the oven. If that sensor is not working, which is found in the clock, the oven does not work. I had a repair guy come out and it will cost 350.00 to repair. My stove is only six years old. It is only two months to the day off warranty. Apparently a power outage can cause the sensor to go. Hope this helps.

Oven doesn't work, but stove does

Once I opened the lid, the oven reset itself. I then closed the lid and it went off again. I did this again (lifting the lid), and the oven again reset it self. I fiddled with the wiring to the stoves and the bundle of wires, and when i closed the lid again, it did not shut down. It has continued to work.

Oven doesn't work, stove does

If it's a Whirlpool or Kenmore oven (or one of several other brands that are made by Whirlpool) then this error code means:

F1 - E1 Safety flip flop Replace Electronic Range Control/Clock (ERC)

The system believes that the control board has failed and needs to be replaced.

This page has a list of diagnostic codes by brand and model number. You should check there to look up your particular brand to confirm what I just said.

Kenmore stove oven does not shut off

Wow, this post is going to be extremely late. Actually, I was able to get a new control unit for my Kenmore gas range from Sears Parts Dirext for $156.06. That includes shipping and tax. The burners work without it. We just cannot use the oven until the new board comes in. It's very easy to replace. Remove the panel screws on the back (just the top) and you have access to unplug the unit and remove the 4 screws holding the assembly in.
