Release the top by pushing in the clips with a putty knife at the front right and front left of the dryer. Once you release the top you can remove it by disonnecting the ground wire at the rear of the top panel. Remove screws that secure the front panel to the dryer. Once all the screws are removed give the front panel a tug to pop it from the clips. Unhook the wiring harness and remove the front panel. By now you can see the drum. Remove the belt from the motor and idler wheel pulley. Yoy will need to get to the rear of the dryer and remove a grill (lower left corner).to gain access to the pulleys. Once the belt is removed, grasp the drum at the rear and give it a quick **** upward to release the drum from the rear bearing. The drum can now be removed through the front.

If you are replacing the rear bearing, consider also replacing the front plastic glides/slide that are located at the top of the door.

Electrolux dryer felt replacement

Basically you start by removing the Top, then the controls then the front, Their are 2 styles. Felt on the front support and glides on the drum OR Glides on the front support. Both glue down to the front support and both come with the glue already.

Clothes get hung between tumbler tub and front of dryer and are scorched, what parts do I need to fix this?

You probably need a new glide kit on front panel
Unplug it and pop the topa068344.jpg to get into the machine and take a look see. This is the most simple of all dryers to repair. It uses glides on front for the tub to ride on and it uses a hanger 3e1ec1c.jpgbearing in the rear for the drum to ride on. The plastic cup that the drum is cradled in wears down to metal to metal and can actually be cut in half causing the drum to drop down and lock up. This dryer is very easy to work on. MORE HERE

Dryer repair

The ball gets bolted to the drum first. Then the white bearing gets installed on the back of the dryer. Then It all goes back together when you install the drum into the dryer.

Squeaking when dryer runs

Yes. Replace the rear bearing cup that the drum sits down into. Do not oil. This cup takes a special grease that you can get with the cup. Also don't let anyone try to sell you the whole bearing kit. All you need is the cup and the grease.

Dryer is making a banging sound even when drum is empty

The dryer drum support is worn and must be replaced.Unplug the dryer. Open the top lid and fold it back. Remove the front panel, dryer belt and drum. To remove the drum pull UP on the rear of the drum. There is a ball and cup support on the rear of the drum and rear cabinet. They are worn down.

Very loud noise every time it starts spinning

Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
If you have a front loading machine, Unplug the dryer, remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If they don't then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve you noise problem.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Clothes get lodged between dryer barrel and dryer frame

you need a new rear bearing kit and a new top front felt yes this is something you cand yourself. Frist unplug the dryer, with a stiff putty knife releace the clips on each side of the top at front to pop open the top. next on the inside of the front cover on each side is a philips head screw remove both screws ( I find it easier to use a #2 square head for this ) now remove the front panell diconect the door switch.now reach under the dryer drum behind the motor and release the belt by removing the tention on the idler pulley and slipping the belt off the motor shaft (you may be able to do this better fromt the rear of the dryer. there is an access panell remove the two screws and you can see the belt and idler pulley ) now using the belt in one hand and the front of the drum in the other lift up on the rear of the drum ( you are lifting the bearing out of the scocket you will feel it pop out ) now slid the drum out of the cabnet. Now you can repace the bearing put a piece of duct tape over the clip on back center of the dryer ( on the outside ) now remove the two 5/16 screws holding the bearing cup on remove the tape from the clip put ne clip on tape in place set new steel ball in cup i put a dab of the greace supplyed in the kit to hold it in put cup on new bracket. set in place and put screws in you may have to reach around the back to line up the clip teghten screws snug. now in the center of the drum is the bearing on the inside are three philips head screws remove all three some timse you can use a #2 square headi lossen all the screws frist almost completly the remove them one at a time or you will have to hold the bearing with one hand to keep it from spinning. Putting the new bearing on you have to put the screw in one hole hold it with one hand and line the bearing up with the other or get some one to leand you a helping hand makes it alot easier.tighten all three screws good and tight now reinstall dryer drum besure to seat the bearing in the bearing cup again you will feel it pop in put the belt back around the drum. Now on the dryer front you will see the felt support the fron of the drum glides on pull it off just the top felt only with a putty knife clean off as much of the old felt as possable. Apply a genurious amount of the glue provided in the kit to the new felt i always put a good line of glue on the dryer front also press the new felt to the front (be sure if the new felt has plastic glides the overhang should be toward the front not the drum if the new felt does not have these glides you don't have to worrie) put dryer front back on when putting the drum back on the top felt you may need to hold the new felt to keep it from moving. reconect door switch put the two screws back in the front. now go back to the back and putthe belt back on the motor pull the idler to tighten the spring put belt around motor shaft and ease pulley back to belt. Put access cover back on and secure. close the top plug it and test don't let dryer run long just a few seconds I like to let the dryer set 24 hour befor putting back to use to give the glue time to set.

Fridgidare dryer problem

Frigidaire dryers use a post and bearing support system. The noise you hear is the post grinding away on the support.00069740.jpg This is the kit to fix that dryer and a link to the kit
http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=1851&PPStack=1

It cost 24 bucks and ships overnight.

Now to fix it requires a phillip screw driver to undo all those screws, I would start with unplugging the unit, removing the two screws in back for the top panel, two screws for the bottom kick panel, located all the way down, hard to see so tilt unit back to access. Next is four screws at the front corners above the user panel and two inside at front left and right sides about nine inches down, now there are two more at the bottom of this door panel where you pulled the kick panel off. After this there is two wire harness clips, squeeze and pull they come off and gently pull at the top sides as there is retainer clips which secure the panel. Ok? Alright now you see the drum with belt attached, get a flashlight at memorize how the belt loops on the tensioner to the motor pulley and take a photo if needed:) Remove the belt and one more screw top middle in front holding a yellow bumper for the drum. The drum while come off by lifting the back of the drum firmly as it clips in place on the bearing support. Now pull the drum out and if I didnt warn you watch out for sharp edges. You will see the flange with shaft on the drum to replace and the bearing support on the back. The back portion screws together with two screws through a retainer to hold a small ball bearing in, I suggest getting a buddy to hold the back clip when replacing as it is a stretch. In the photo above you will see all the pieces on right go in this order metal clip, plastic cup, ball bearing onto panel and hold clip on back and insert two screws, with a buddy and some grease to hold the ball bearing this is the easy part. The flange has three screws and you must thread them with out stripping the heads off. A buddy again to share the moment is best to hold the drum while you insert the screws. The last part is putting a 1/2 tsp of grease in the plastic cup and following the instructions in reverse. Dont forget the wire harness as you reassemble or the belt looping on the tensioner.
