You most likely blew the "flyback". Without knowing anything about your TV, this is an educated guess. But knowing Phillips TV's, I'd bet that's what it is. It can be replaced, but I think you'd come out ahead buying a new TV. If you do purchase a new TV, Pleeeeeease!! get the extended warranty! You'll thank me later, I promise!

My 50" LCD TV makes a popping sound when it is first turned on. It is about 6 months old. It has done it when it was storming. But the weather is beautiful and it started popping when we first turned...

Hello
A poping sound will be there for most of the TVs when it is switched ON, using its power ON/OFF switch at its front panel. There will be no such sound when you power On it by using its remote control. If it pops up still when you poower it ON using remote control, the set need service. As it is new, it will have warranty. just contact the dealer whom you bought the tV. company must repair it for free.

When my Sony Trinitron 27" is on, the menu pops up by itself and wont turn off no matter how many times your press the menu button. What can I do to fix it?

It sounds like you have a front panel switch that is hanging or that is bad. I would start with the menu switch first. If you are not electronically savvy, do not attempt it, call a professional.
Hope this helps,

Toshiba tz50v51 popping sound

Possible problems: * The TV set may be unplugged. * A fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or switched off. * The remote control unit (RCU) may be disabled. Solutions: * Make sure the TV/VCR are plugged in and the wall switch is on. * Check the fuse or circuit breaker. Test the outlet with a lamp. * Replace the RCU's batteries: if this fails exchange the unit.
