There was a popping sound
You most likely blew the "flyback". Without knowing anything about your TV, this is an educated guess. But knowing Phillips TV's, I'd bet that's what it is. It can be replaced, but I think you'd come out ahead buying a new TV. If you do purchase a new TV, Pleeeeeease!! get the extended warranty! You'll thank me later, I promise!
