Question about Logitech Squeezebox Duet
I brought the Squeezebox Duet Yesturday ,affter several hours letting the remote charge i went about setting it up ,but could not do this very easily as i had to leave the remote on the charging pod all the time.
As soon as i moved the remote or removed it from the charging dock station it would not work .
It would reboot up again each time i removed the Remote and the placed it back on the docking station.
This is brand New straight out of the box so it is very disapointing to have it not working as i exspect it to.
Is there something that can be done
I suggest you read the instructions to ensure you haven't missed some small detail.
If you are confident you have done everything right it is safe to assume the unit is faulty and should be returned to the retailer for replacement or refund and you should contact the retailer as soon as possible.
When a person buys something they actually are making a contract that in return for some hard-earned cash the retailer will provide an item of merchantable quality. If the item doesn't work as promised it is not of merchantable quality and the retailer has breached the contract.

I have experienced the same connectivity issues with the Duet system. My first system was sent back for a replacement within the 30 day return policy. The second unit worked considerably better but the remote controller would still sometimes completely lose the link with the Squeezebox receiver after being left in the charger for an hour or two (or just set aside a while). Firmware upgrades seemed to slightly improve the situation, but I eventually sent the controller back for a replacement. The tech rep said they've had issues with the controllers. When I asked if I needed to return the receiver as well, he said "It's the controller, we've seen the problem quite a bit."
So, it seems the wifi function on the hardware can sometimes be defective. Update the firmware on everything, and if you've still got problems, insist on a replacement unit (it will likely be a refurb).

I took the rubber feet off(4) from the underside of the cradle - removed the four screws and separated the top half of the cradle from the bottom. This exposes the two long thin charging arms and points All one piece). I then took some doubled sided tape, similar to what you use to put up temporary 3m picture hooks and cut four small pieces about 1/8th in square. Join two of the pieces back to back to make one piece (double original thickness), then raise one of the long charging arms gently and place the piece of double sided tape under the head of the arm (ie under the very end where the rounded point is, that sticks though the cradle when reassembled (there are two of these). Do this to the other arm.
Why - by inserting the doublesided tape you permanently raise the arms without bending them - ie they will now stay in that position and not bend out of shape, losing contact again . With the cradle reassembled, put the remote back in the cradle you will have more direct contact with the two charging pins. FIXED!!!!!!!! Good luck1

As an 880 owner myself, I think this is a common problem and documented out there on the internet.
This has happened to me a lot. (Okay, it's actually stopped now as the charged remote keeps shutting down and going into test mode.) But, back to your battery issue - I believe that the charging pins in the dock don't properly contact the equivalent pins on the back of the remote.
Try cleaning them with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol, then press down. You should hear one beep only - if you hear a beep followed by another beep, the unit has made contact then lost it.
Good luck! I think this really is a design flaw.
