Question about Philips DVDR3575H/37
If you have a digital camera available, you can use it to check if the remote is transmitting because the camera's CCD sensor can see IR (infrared) light. Turn on the camera, then point the remote at the lens. Look at the camera LCD screen and press the "Power" or "On" button on the remote. You should see the IR LED flashing.
If it doesn't flash, then check the batteries. Test this setup with another remote to confirm that the digital camera is working properly.
If the camera is okay, the batteries are good, but you still don't see the IR LED flashing, the LED itself could be open. It can be replaced (Radio Shack sells a replacement IR LED), and the job envolves just two solder joints, but the remote could be difficult to open.
