Probably the inverter board of your monitor has been exhausted. The inverter is the part that enables the monitor to glow, making a little fluorescent gas lamp insithe the LCD bright strong enough to illuminate all the panel. When this circuit has some disfunction the lamp could oscilate, ficker and finally die making the panel dark and you couldn read what's on the screen.

The inverter has a lifetime, and the lamp too, check the lamp lifetime of your monitor and the inverter too.

But this could only be performed to a qualified person, due the high probability of electric shock if you try to make yoursel the repair.

Good luck

My trusty laptop's monitor has begun to flicker. It's most noticeable on battery power. It hasn't progressed to anything beyond a slight but annoying flicker. Do you have any ideas?

The could be a problem with the power on the motherboard, or the inverter board for the backlight system or it could be a loose connection. Does it flicker when you're not touching it? Move the display slightly, wiggle it gentle and try pinching it on the bottom outside edges (NOT hard) and see if it flickers then. If it does that could be a loose connection.

Unfortunately you can't really tell if it's the invertor until it totally goes out.

I need to replace the power supply for Sceptre X5G Komodo IV any idea where I can order one for it. Is is cost effective to replace it or better to just buy a replacement? It power on fine but flashes...

15" monitor this old will not be worth to get another used board in it because more likley the caps will go out soon also since they will be about the same age as your board. Try replacing the caps? or new monitor?

LCD monitor not working right

This is 2004 model, it may not be worth putting money and time into repairing a 15" monitor. But you can at least look inside for any damaged, burnt components, lose connections, etc. otherwise to do a component level repair at the shop will not be worth it.

My Dell Latitude C400 PC Notebook screen flickers very fast, any ideas? thanks

It can depend on what kind of flickering you are seeing. A very very fast one, that shows more obvious if you look to the side of your screen (instead of directly at it as normal), means your screens 'refresh rate' is most likely wrong.
That's the most likely problem you have, as the inverter will usualy only make a screen flash, not flicker, though they don't usually flash too much before the bulb or inverter can't take the strain and breaks properly.
Sometimes a screens circuit can go slightly faulty (very rare) and cause a slight change in its refresh cycle, and that can cause a high speed flickering too, usually accompanied with a very slight blurring of any images.
The standard setting for a C400 is 1024 x 768 resolution at 60 Hertz, so check your display properties to see that's not been accidentally changed.

No picture on my x5g-komodo7 monitor

A reddish picture is the classic symptom of worn out backlight bulbs.
Sensor circuits usually shut down the power to the bulbs in a second or so.

Monitor Powers off after a second or two.........

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!

Sceptre X9G Komodo IV 19" Monitor

Hi dgp1952, Check with www.lcdrepair.net if you want a repair. Something is wrong with your backlight or the circuit supplying power to it. If your technically endowed, you may want to open the monitor case and clean the dust and lint from around the circuits using a Small paint brush to sweep away any built up dust. Dust can cause the circuitry to heat up faster and put the power supply into Clamp mode. Clamp mode will turn the supply off to certain circuits which may be the reason your display is going black after 5 minutes.
