Lines on scanned and copied documents is usually caused by something on the scanner glass such as ink, correction fluid or trash. Open the top of the printer and clean the scanner glass surfaces with windex and paper towels. See this article for more details:
if it only happens when COPYING AND NOT PRINTING there is a long thin glass that "reads" your originals inside the document feeder. It probably has whiteout on it. clean it with your fingernail. this glass is about 10 inches left to right and 3/4 inch long. Your manual should point this glass out to you.
don't know the model of machine, but usually caused by the drum unit or toner cartridge. many machines have both drum and toner in 1 unit. try replacing.
There are two scan modes when copies are made. When you make copies through ADF you originals go past small **** glass located to the left of the main exposure glass.Any small mark on this **** glass( correction fluid mark, ink mark, small scratch, dust particle and so on)will show as a line on your copy.So to get rid of these vertical lines on your copies you need to clean this small exposure glass.
All you need to do is clean the top feeder which opens into two parts. make sure you clean the black rollers as well as the small strip of glass you will find when you open the second part of the top feeder . don't be afraid to pull open the top feeder it won't break
Need more info.... Is it pitch line accross the page the whole page or banding on the front or back side of the copies or is it black streaks down the page?
There is a small strip of glass on the left side directly under the edge of the scanner, About a half an inch wide. It has something on it.
May be very hard to see, use a strong glass cleaner or some alcohol and a regular piece of paper to clean it with.
You sure can - the issue is that there is something on the thin strip of glass where the copy goes through from the feeder at the top - follow these directions and you should clear the problem right up.
