Hello, my Hobart AE200 seeps oil from the front panel. How do I top it up? How often does the oil need replacing and with what type of oil? Thanks

It's not oil in the A200, it's #2 weight grease. Although when it gets old enough it can break down far enough to basically become oil (either that or someone put oil in it previously). There are a number of answers written on fixya.com explaining how to disassemble the transmission and change the grease. Fill with 36 ounces #2 grease. FYI : disassembling the transmission and changing the grease is a very messy task and one can VERY easily reassemble the transmission incorrectly, so consider bringing the mixer to Hobart to have the job done.

What kind of oil should I use in my Hobart 800 floor mixer? jdnwilk@juno.com

Hello Jdnwilk,

In a Hobart L800 you use 140 weight gear oil in the head and 90 weight gear oil in the planetary. You should start with about 160 ounces and check the sight glass and fill until in the middle of the site glass after oil settles.

I have a: H-600T. Serial #11-369-290. Is this a 1,2, or 3 phase?

It's either 1 or 3 phase. Check the data plate. If it has a two pole contactor it is three phase, if it has a three pole contactor then it is three phase.

Oil leakage

Is the oil leaking down the beater shaft?Remove the silver drip cup,3 screw's one in the midlle, one on the right and one on the left.Once you drop the drip cup if it's filled with oil then you may need the seal's in the transmission replaced.

Hobart 140 Qt Mixer 4 speed. needs the oil changed? what kind of oil to use?

You can use a heavy weight gear oil or call the local hobart branch for it.To remove oil----Look under the mixer where the beater shaft is in the back and you will see a three quarter inch nut, remove this nut and drain the oil then put nut back in.To fill the unit remove the top cover screws and remove the top,you will see a long hexagon nut in length, remove this and grab a funnel then add the oil---be patient it takes time to fill as the oil is heavy.
