Ink carriage not working properly

Just received an epson stylist r280. I was trying to set it up and the ink carriage will not go to the open spot in the housing to add the ink. Nothing is blocking the movement. The power light goes off and the paper and ink lights flash.

This is a common error whith this printer, if you keep on trying it WILL return to the (exchange ink) position eventually ,however,Another neat trick , When you try to change ink and the thing moves unplug the mains power cable , once you have done this the cartridge will be unlocked and will move freely anyway,, move it by hand and install the ink you have,

What is wrong with my Epson R280 printer when the ink appears smeared down columns of a spreadheet

Probably dirty heads on the nozzle. In most inkjets there is a maintenance option to clean the heads. I would first clean the heads, and then make sure that the print heads were aligned. If that is all squared away then check for any driver or firmware updates. Finally get some rubbing alcohol and gently clean the print head. Sometimes if the printer is not used that often the ink will congeal and smear.

My Epson stylus Photo R280 prints like its printing double and is very unclear..how do I correct this problem

You need to align/clean your ink cartridge. Look under the Printers, select your printer and go to Properties. There should be a tab for maintenance.

I have a Epson Stylus nx200 brand new, and am having a hard time installing the ink. I do what it says but the part where I am supposed to put the ink won't slide over into the appropriate spot. Please...

turn it on, flip open the panel to get to the ink, press and hold the ink botton under the paper feeding botton, it'll start to move, then when it slides over press the ink botton, it'll shift, continue to press it till it slides to the open area for your ink to be installed

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Ink carriage jammed

Well, I'm not too happy that the only response I got was solicitation for the Premium Assistance Plan.

Figuring that the printer had pretty much died, I allowed my husband, Mr. Fix-It, to give it a try. He simply pushed up on the front end of the ink carrier and slid it into the opening. This allowed him to get at the cartridges and push gently down on the new cartridge I'd installed. It had not been seated completely. Works fine now.

I'd be curious to know why I found a huge ink spot under the printer. It has probably been there for quite some time, as I usually just dust around things rather than move them.
