Alot of trimmers now have limiter caps on the carbruetors to keep the homeowner from making adjustments due to epa regulations and the ethanol fuel is 10% is not good either
So unless you have access to or a way to remove the caps for adjustments its a hard fix
you could remove the carb. and take apart to make sure the rubber pieces are still pliable.
the fuel will harden them over time and the carb will not deliver fuel to engine properly.
check you fuel lines to make sure they are not cracked or broken

I have a 30cc ryobi trimmer that will start but not run unless the choke is fully on. The moment I use the throttle or turn off the choke ,it dies. what could be the problem? thanks.

Hi Guy:
The first thing I would check would be the fuel filter.
Try pulling it out and giving it a really good clean.
Probably a good idea to put fresh gas in at the same time if it's been sitting for a while.

Gas Trimmer will not stay started

Many times with a gas mix, after sitting for a while, the mix separates and gums up the carb. Taking the carb off and soaking it overnight in a parts or carb cleaner and running carb cleaner through the tank and gas lines will cure this.

Ryobi CS30 Trimmer starts and runs in full choke and half choke but stumbles and stalls on run. Not up to full rpms when in full choke and half choke....

You probably need a slight carburetor adjustment. Try to turn the L mixture screw (the one near the bottom of the carburetor on the air filter side, closest to the engine) 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn counterclockwise. These mixture adjustment screws ( L and H) have odd heads on them and conventional tools won't turn them. I use an automotive type plastic wire connector (around 22 gauge) with a ring terminal end which I can hold. Tap the plastic end of the wire terminal connector onto the head of the screw with a small hammer and this will enable you to adjust the L screw. This adjustment will increase you high speed side and possibly allow it to run off choke in a regular manner.

I have a ryobi weed eater clean carb change filter and spark plug wont run off choke

I have the same problem. It will run if I put it halfway between Half Choke and Full Choke. But, just dies if I put it on Run or Half Choke. Don't ever loan your WE to anyone, They might just try to run it on straight gas--That is what happened on another week eater that I had.

It wont start

First, make sure that the gas mixture is correct (gas and oil mixed in the right proportion). Next, press the primer bulb 3-4 times, turn the choke lever on to Full Choke, and pull the starter cord until the engine seems like to wants to start, but dies. Next, switch the choke lever to Half Choke and start the gas trimmer, giving it gas by pulling on the trigger. Once it has warmed up fully, you may be able to reduce the Half Choke to No Choke, although my 20+ years of experience with dozens and dozens of models tells me that many trimmers run better, although smoking slightly, when you keep them at Half Choke. One last tip, when pulling the cord, try pushing the trimmer away from you with the opposite hand at the exact same time that you are pulling the starter cord--the equal and opposite push-pull technique may sound like something from karate (and it is, in a way), but it is really helpful when trying to start trimmers. Best of luck, Bill

PS: Check you owner's manual (at home or online) for the proper gas/oil mixture. Empty any old gas out and replace the spark plug, if required.
