Question about Dynamo Garden

1 Answer

Noy working I got a dayton self priming transfer pump. No owner's manual. I looked on line for a manual and found one for another make and followed those directions. It has a top hose connection and one out the front. I wanted to pump water out of a plastic barrell which is in the ground out through a garden hose. I connected the in hose to the front and exit hose to the top. It does has a prime cap that comes off so I primed it with several ounces of water. It is running but no water tranfer. So, I changed the hoses to the opposite way, re-primed ran it awhile and still nothing. Any suggestions? I'm sorry I am not finding a good category.

Well, ok, I found that I just needed more water to prime it.  Apparently, a self-prime pump needs to be primed pretty well to use the first time.

How do I prime my flotec 4022 pump

A number of Flotec pump manuals are available here: http://www.flotecpump.com/ResidentialResourcePage_resourcepage_ownersmanuals.aspx . The site lists a FP4022-10 pump with the direct link to the manual here: http://www.flotecpump.com/resources/images/514.pdf .

For this type of pump, there should be a priming plug or priming tee. Remove the plug (or tee) and pour water into the pump. Keep adding water until the pump and all of the piping to the well is full of water. If a priming plug or tee was also added on the suction side of the pump, open that section and fill all of the piping on the suction side with water. Replace the plugs/tees then open a faucet in the house. Start the pump. After 2-3 minutes, turn off the pump if no water has come through the unit. Add more water through the priming plug or tee (or multiple plugs and tees). Then repeat closing the priming ports and start the pump after opening a faucet. Once the pump is actually pumping water, turn off the open faucet. Wait for the pump to shut off once it reaches full pressure. Open one or two faucets to check that the pump is properly sensing the pressure changes and maintaining system water pressure.

If the unit didn't pull water from the well, check the piping for air leaks. See the full trouble-shooting guide in the manual. Page 9 has the priming information and page 10 has the trouble-shooting guide.

I hope this helps.

Makes a buzzing noise but pumps no water

You need to take it out and see if the impellor is stuck or if the motor is stalled.

Pump comes on--the water stopped coming out---noticed the 2 wires coming from the pump hooked to points are black at end----top of pump got warm----have had a lot of lighting in my area---3/4 pump

Likely two very separate problems:

Prime failure is either mechanical wear in the pump or an air leak in the suction line. It is usually easier to look for air leaks in the suction prior to disassembling the pump to look for trouble. A clogged foot valve, a clogged impeller, clogged inlet screens, etc.

Line leads discoloring can mean many things: Line voltage may be dropping too much and/or the line leads undersized. The motor may be beginning to fail causing an increase in amp draw. The pump may be overloaded but that is unlikely.

As you narrow down the possibilities please add comments to this post if you need additional guidance.

My pump is not drawing water from the pool, dissambeled pump and it is clean and free of obstructions. removed pump from motor and inpeller is spinning when plugged in and the defuser seems to be ok...

Ok I''m assuming the pump is mounted higher than the water level in the pool. This means it needs to be primed. If everything is air tight, it should be self priming. Check to be sure your piping is open from the skimmer to the pump and not clogged. You can put a garden hose into the suction line of the pump and feel for flow coming up out of the bottom of the skimmer. If that is ok, then fill the pump strainer basket with water. Be sure filter is selected to filter. Make sure that the basket cover is tight to the cover gasket. After filling basket with water, quickly close the cover and start pump. If it still doesn't work, fill the basket again with water and check for any leaks. If the mechanical seal is leaking, it will not self prime. I'm not sure what type of pump you have, but Hayward has complete manuals for their pumps on www.haywardnet.com. Most pumps work about the same. GOOD LUCK!

My saeco royal expresso machine is saying ventaliate and does not work what do i do

hello my name is Lee Davidian and am an expert on FixYa and here is the answer..
Having read the other reviews here, I was prepared for the cryptic "VENTILATE" message. (The manual refers to this procedure as "Loading the circuit", which doesn't help to clarify things.) Of course this refers to what Americans would call "priming" the machine. As mentioned in another review, there is a plastic hand pump supplied for priming, but that is only needed in the event that the electric pump fails to self-prime. All I had to do (following the quick-start instructions) was to select the Hot Water function; the internal pump quickly primed itself
