Question about Sharp Notevision XG-NV6XU Multimedia Projector

Open Question

Sharp LCD Projector has a blue line on the screen

This is an XG-1000. Sporadically, a thin blue line appears on the screen right in the middle. I have cleaned the filter that is easily accesible under the unit. LAst time I did that, there was no blue line. But today it's back.

Any idea how tro get rid of it?

SOURCE: Where are the fuses in a Sharp xg-nv3xb notevision3 projector

Main line fuse is on the board where the ac cord plugs.
The caps in the power supply usually leak and explode after 5 years, blowing the fuse. Solution is to replace the power supply and lamp ballast boards. Expensive repair.

SOURCE: I have a sharp xg-nv5xb projector that wont power on.

bad power board or blown fuse. If you feel comfortable you can take the out case off and follow the power connector to the board. You can then check the fuse. Make sure the unit is unplugged before doing so. If the fuse is fine then you will need to replace the board as it probably has a bad capacitor or resistor. You can find a power board online but to be honest, its probably not worth the money to by a new one. Would probably be cheaper to buy a used one with a bad lamp and cannibalize the power board out of it.

either the lamp hours are close to or exceeding 1400 hrs and the lamp needs replacing, or the ballast is starting to fail. with the projector on, check the lamphours in the menu. after you replace the lamp (if it needs it), reset the lamp timer by holding down the down arrow, right arrow, and enter buttons, then press power.

SOURCE: auto shutdown sharp xg-p25x projector

This would seem to be heat-related as these lamps get hot rather quickly. The first quick and dirty solution - try cleaning the filter which is under a panel on the bottom of the projector. Another fix - be sure the projector is plugged into an image source; i.e. computer or DVD player. Sometimes these units will go into standby mode without a signal. More difficult fix - be sure the fan is runningn. When it shuts down, the fan should keep running until the lamp cools, then it will shut down. If the fan isn't working the temperature build-up with shut the projector off. Replacing the fan may be a job for a tech.

I replaced the lamp in my Sharp XG-E3500U and there is lines in the picture now. How do I solve this problem?

mostly, this is caused by a default of the lcd screen inside, if so, you must replace it, if your model is using 3 lcd screen, open the cover, disconnnect one of them , run the projector, if you don't see lines, power off, reconnect it and disconnect the second, till you see the lines, so you can localise the default one. you also can try to check the lcd screen connector, disconnect, clean, reconnect

Large dot in the middle of the projected display

there is a burned-in spot on the polerizer light filter for the blue lcd. it makes sure the light is blue coming through, that's why it is black on a blue screen, and yellow when the red and green are the only light showing through. it needs to be replaced. pat # PFiLW0213CEZZ.

I have a similar issue with yellow pattern on the left and top right of my screen. Took it apart and found the blue lcd had damage that matched the yellow area that was projected. I thought it was the lens but it was the blue lcd .It has gone bad and no replacement. Are you interested in selling the bulb or the whole projector? I have since purchased another projector and am keeping the bad one for spare parts. Hope this helps..Ben

Sharp XGP25X Projector has large blue smudge on Screen

This is one of two things. Most likely there is a piece of dust or other obstruction right on top of the blue panel. I'm guessing that your smudge is in the lower center of the screen - that is where these usually occur. The other possibility is that the blue LCD panel is starting to deteriorate and the components separating. This is extremely expensive to repair and Sharp will end up giving you an estimate that approaches the replacement cost for a comparable new projector.

This is a burnt LCD that will need replacement. If the circle is yellow on a white screen , then it is your blue LCD that will need replacement.
