Magicard Enduro Printer problem

I have a Magicard Enduro printer, installed in Vista Operating System. Whenever i'd try to print it would prompt "Wrong film type". I was able to install to another PC and works perfectly fine. I've try to install and reinstall everything in my laptop but still not workking. hope anyone can help

    Is the Vista 32 bit or 64 bit as the driver currently only operates with 32 bit systems

Hi There,

This is very a very common problem!
Fortunately, it's really easy to fix too;

Go to your 'Printers & Faxes' folder. Right-click on 'Magicard Printer Series'.
Select 'Properties'. Click on the 'Device Settings' tab.
Select the correct printer model in the drop-down list (Tango 2);

I suspect you currently have 'Tango' selected.

First of all, for Windows Vista, you need to be using the very latest driver (V6.02).
You can download this by following the link below;

http://www.magicardonline.net

Just enter your printer's serial number in the QuickSearch box.

Please Note: - With CardFive software, you need to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the printer list, then select the printer driver with the Windows logo next to it called 'Magicard Printer Series'.

If you still can't print from the CardFive software, can you print the Windows test page?

Magicard Alto driver for Vista (NON E serial)

Follow the instructions for installing the 'Alternative' driver.
This driver will work with Vista.

I cannot install on my my printer, i do not have cd but I have downloaded from HP website ...operating system windows xp doesn't not detect printer...help!!!


Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://support.hp.com
Enter the model-number for your HP printer, and do the search.
Select "downloads".
Select "device-driver".
Select your Operating System (Mac? Windows Vista?)
Download the device-driver.
Install the device-driver.
Connect the printer, when prompted to connect it.
Print a test-page.

Printing problem


Hi JuanU,

Which version of Windows are you running now? Vista?
If it is Vista, you will need to use the newer 'UltraDriver' for the Opera printer (V1.3.0.0 Issue 1).
This can be downloaded from Magicard's web site here;

NOTE!!! This driver will ONLY work with the following operating systems: Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 and VISTA. If your PC has a different OS from those above DO NOT install this driver!

If you have an 'older' Opera printer which does not have an 'E' in the serial number, you will need to change the 'PRODUCT ID' from 2000 to 2800 before this driver will recognise the printer.

This is quite simple to do. Download and install the Magicard Support Utility Version 3.13 by clicking on this link;

Run the Utility, select 'USB' for the comms port.
When the other tabs open up, select 'Statistics / Commands'.
In the 'Quick Command' box type;

PID2800

Then click 'Send'.

Exit the Magicard Support Utility, and unplug the printer's power cable.
Now, install the UltraDriver version 1.3.0.0 Issue 1.
When the driver install has finished, plug the power cable into the printer. The hardware wizard will finish the installation and you will then see the 'Magicard Opera' printer icon in your printers folder.
It should then work fine.

Hi There,

I think this may be something Win 2K is doing.
However, rather than power cycling the printer, simply removing the USB connection then replacing it should be enough to 'wake it up' (and save on dye film).

Check the power saving settings for your USB Root Hub;(Hardware/Device Manager/USB Controllers/ USB Root Hub/Properties/Power Management). Make sure the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' option is NOT ticked.

Check also under 'Settings' / 'Printers', right-click on 'Magicard Printer Series', you should NOT see either 'Resume Printing' (printer is paused), or, 'Use Printer Online' (printer is offline).

Also, make sure you have the latest drivers installed. The Rio 2 / Tango 2 driver V6.01 is compatible with the 'older' Rio / Tango printer (even the non 'NP' models). You can download this here;
Make sure though that you select 'update driver files' and NOT 'add a printer' when prompted (restart is required). Port name should be 'NUSB01' when you see the list of available ports.

I have error whenever i just select encoding only


Hi There, I presume (from the error number) that you are using LC3 (monochrome) dye film in your printer. This error is normally given when the printer detects LC3 (monochrome) dye film, but is then sent 'Colour' printing data from the driver. If you have 'encode only' selected there should be no printing data sent to the printer at all (number of copies = 0), only the mag stripe information should be sent. I suggest you contact Magicard Technical Support in the UK (I am one of their support engineers). We will need some further information (serial number of the printer, etc). Please also check you have the latest firmware (print the internal test card by pushing the button on the back) and are using the latest driver.
