Westinghouse dwm55f1y1 will not play through receiver

Generally you will connect the Digital audio or optical audio cable from TV to the input of Receiver. Then using the remote control of Receiver you will program the source for digital audio or optical audio as TV. I am assuming the speakers on the receiver are already connected and working. All you do is then turn on TV and turn on Receiver and select TV on Receiver. The TV audio will play through the receiver. Make sure the TV sound is in Mute.

Go to a retail store and ask general questions.

On my yamaha 375 receiver if I connect digital or hdmi it disables the balance/bass treble etc but they work with anolog don't know if yours might be the same just abit strang if anolog doing it aswell

Check your settings on your tv. You may have to turn off the internal tv speakers in the setup menu in order to get any audio output from the jacks on the back.

You also have to connect a SPDIF coax or optical from both the DVD player and from the STBox into the digital inputs on the rear of the receiver. And select them with the remote control.

Sounds like the setup info got scrambled in the receiver. Re-program the TV input...from optical or coax or whatever way it is going into the receiver.

Most TV's have a MONITOR OUT connections, sometimes called audio out.

This may be either analogue (RED / WHITE) or digital (optical or coax) simply run these back to the receiver's input and you should be good. Many TV you have to go into the menu and disable your TV speakers and enable audio output.

its not how there connected its in your settings. rehook up all your speaker connections properly,then make sure you proram the reciever to recieve fiber optic,hdmi,digital coax etc in the reciver.
