I have a Canon Rebel XTI. Here is my problem. I took some senior pictures and then downloaded them onto my computer so that I could order them from my lab. The largest size that I could order was a 5x7 because of the resolution. What am I doing wrong. I have my camera set for the highest setting and I am using full auto. Can you tell me what may be affecting the resolution?
I suspect that what you have done is upload the thumbnails to the lab and not the actual picture.(check the sizes in kb) As fertobar says even at the lowest resolution setting the 400d is more than capable of printing out decent 5x7s.
The XTi allow to set different image size for manual modes an for AUTO modes. So you can set a Large size superfine for auto and RAW type for manual modes. So check the size settings under manual and automatic modes.
However, the "smal" resolution (1936x1288 px) on XTi will allow you to print good 5x7 photos.

I have the same problem but I get this Err 99 message. It tells me to turn off the camera or re-install the batteries. It sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't Also I am in holiday in Thailand. Did the heat and humidity have anything to do with it? It never happened to me the last year when I was in Thailand and Cambodia.
