Question about LG 24 in. LDS 5811ST Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

LG Dishwasher redepositing debris back onto dishes

We have a LG Model LDS5811ST and have had two problems with it since we bought it. While we scrape large pieces of food left on plates etc, our dishes do not come out clean. We find small particles of food on all the dishes after the wash cycle. Top rack dishes seem to gather the majority of debris.

I use Jet Dry rinse agent and Cascade 2in1 Action packs with Dawn in the unit. In an attempt to correct the problem we've followed the manufactures recommendations for maintenance and cleaned the spray arms, both upper and lower. This did not seem to help the problem.

We also make sure to follow the manufactures recommendations on loading dishes/cutlery. Irregardless which wash program we use the problem continues.

The second problem is the dry cycle. If we use any other wash program aside from Power Scrub, dishes do not come out dry, not even 1/2 dry yet the dishes are hot from the dry cycle.

We choose the LG by recommendations of others but to be honest are incredibly disappointed by the performance of the machine. I hope you can assist us in finding a solution for these problems.

Thank You
Tami Bell

Do you get any leaking from the bottom front of the door, especially during the drying cycle? While the dishwasher is in the dry cycle, feel directly under the door and check for any drips at all.

Report back with the results. Also, please post the serial number of this LG 5811 - there MAY be a retro fit kit for this problem.

Have had a problem with our LG 5811 Dishwasher not operating.
I have found the Vent Hole Cover located inside the Door was not installed correctly. I used plumber putty between the plastic fitting and the inside face of the Door and turned the Cover fully to lock in place (vent hole is toward Door bottom). Water was leaking previously from this opening over the wires in the door.

Another problem was the lower Door Seal (under the Door) it was not installed correctly either. It was actually too long and would not seal against the bottom of the inclosure. Water was coming out and spraying the wires in the door. I had to remove the metal stiffener over the front of the Dishwasher to get to the Door Seal. I removed one end and reinstalled the seal. The Seal laid flat but was approximately 3/16" to long. I cut off the end with a sharp knife - seems to be the correct length now.

LG dishwasher model # LDS5811ST won't turn on

Hi

First make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump assembly located inside the lower front panel of the dishwasher. If the issue returns after its cleaned then try to reset the dishwasher control by pressing the HEATED DRY button and hold it for 15 seconds, if its still not resolved then it means that the control board has gone bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

How do I remove the screen to clean out debris below it ?

The problem is hard water. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a product to solve this problem once and for all. It filters the water going into your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that leave those spots. It is very affordable and even has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look with this product.

IT is leaving food on the dishes

You do not have to prewash your dishes before loading them. In fact, by prewashing, you actually defeat the purpose of most dishwasher detergents. These detergents are activated by the grease and oils in food and work better. You should only scrape your plates of solid materials that are not recommended to go into a dishwasher (i.e., celery, popcorn kernels, tough chunks of meat, gristle, etc.).

If you are getting food particles on your dishes, this is known as "redeposition". Most commonly it is caused by food particles trapped in the filter of the main wash pump. You will need to remove the lower spray arm and access the filter screens and clean them of all debris.

If you need further assistance on how to disassemble your dishwasher to access the filter, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER. I hope this information is helpful to you.

LG dishwasher does not clean the dishes and reaks of burning plastic

Unless I know what model # of LG dishwasher you have, it is hard to step you through the process of removing the filter beneath the lower spray arm and removing the offending objects from that area.
But once you remove all debris, (and possible scrape the heating element to remove the plastic) you should have much better results.
Also, after the debris is removed and you are running again, I recommend that you only use a name brand powder detergent (Electrosol or Cascade) and never use gel or tablets in your dishwasher. Folks who switch to a cheap/generic powder will almost always begin having uncleaned dishes after a few loads.
Good Luck. Please report back what you find, OK?

Washer arm not working

If your dishes are getting clean, then your problem is a "feture" not a failure. The LG LDS5811 has a Verio motor/check valve that switches between cleaning the upper dishes and then the lower. Depending on when you open the door, one arm will not be spinning.
All the presure is routed either to the lower or upper arm, so it really does help - especially with a water conserving model like the 5811.
Good Luck!

Redeposits material on dishes

We had the same problem and we have managed to resolve it for the most part.  We have found that the detergent makes a huge difference.  Our experimentation found that Cascade Complete powder did the best job.  Also, our old glassware was wide at the bottom and narrow at the top which I suspect made it difficult for the spray arm to get water up there so we bought new glassware and that helped a lot too.  It still happens from time to time but it is pretty rare.
