Can't get menu button to work on the remote

this tv sucks, we can only get 1 channel, we can't seem to fix it b/c the menu button won't work. we've tried unplugging everything and plugging back in. the cable is hooked directly from the tv to the wall. what should we do, I want to throw it out the window!
