Re: how do i donload video on my opal mp3 player

It might be the videos aren't compatible with your MP3. If so go to the website and download the video converter.

Re: how do i donload video on my opal mp3 player

If you have the CD that came with the player double-click on the Converter folder and the RCA SMV video converter comes up. Double-click the RCA SMV icon and it begins to install. You can also go to

However I do have a question about video lengths. What is the length limit for videos? Can a 2 hour or 700mb movie be installed? My player is 2GB.

Thanks - Rob.

How do i put videos on my opal mp3

Log onto the RCA website and download the RCA SMV Video Converter. The Opal only plays videos that are in one specific format. This converter will put your videos into that exact format (see Resources below).
  • Install the RCA SMV Video Converter once you have downloaded the software.
  • Open the RCA SMV Video Converter software to begin putting videos onto your RCA Opal.
  • Connect the RCA Opal to your computer using the USB chord that came with the device.
  • Wait until the RCA SMV Video Converter software reads that the device has been connected. You will know this when the bottom of the software screen reads “Player Detected: Opal 1GB 2GB.”
  • Select the “Browse” option to find any videos that are on your computer which you wish to add to the RCA Opal.
  • Click the box next to “Transfer output files to OPAL 1GB 2GB after conversion is complete” after you have selected all of the videos which you wish to convert. This will automatically add the videos to your RCA Opal after they have been converted.
  • Click the “Convert” box after you have selected all of the videos. The videos will automatically begin to convert to the correct format. Once they have been converted, your videos will automatically upload to your RCA Opal.

This unit supports windows xp and vista Just have windows media player locate all your audio and WMA compatable videos. Then use the sync feature at the top of your windows media player to create a sync list on the right hand side by dragging your stuff over to that area .Use start/sync button in the lower right corner this should get you loading your player!!

There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites.

WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.

Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to Windows-based computers.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself:
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

You must use the converter software that came with the Opal to sync videos. Go to the RCA website if you have lost the converter software.

pictures and videos have to be in the format that the player accepts you might have to read the owners manual for what formats it uses.

Once they are in the correct format you can use windows media player to add the files just use the SYNC function.

    RCA OPAL M4002A Video Problem

You need the specific video converter software from RCA that comes on the CD included with the Opal.  If you don't have that, post here and I'll try to upload the image somewhere as an .iso file.  This is necessary to get the video into the final format the Opal can use.  As far as I know, other video convertors won't format the file properly.
