Question about Yamaha Audio Players & Recorders
Unit has preformed perfectly for two years. Has been attached to a Bose acoustimass 600 system the entire time. This week unit has started to instantly go into protect mode. Have done all the manul trouble shooting. Unit currently has all wires removed and only the electric cable attached, still clicks to protect mode. Help!!!
The set i in protection due to power supply. Some comonents being short (malfunction). It require proper checkup because in protection mode, Many components are involvd and protection is commanded by the processing IC (Main chip IC), If some where in the power or other sections any component creat problem processing IC take quick action to avoide further damages, that's why set goes in protection mode. I suggest you to check physically and most probebly capacitors must be blown or dehaped or popped. If you seen such things then change it therwise contact any expert because it is time taken procedure to find out which component is not working. Therefore contact any expert nearby to avoide any further damadges.
Thanks for using fixya.

I just wanted to share my experience repairing my Yamaha M-60 power
amp. After twenty years of use, the protection circuit wouldn't shut
off. I did what the owner's manual said to do ... check speakers and
cycle power. That didn't work, so it was time to either junk it or roll
my sleeves up and go to work.
After removing the cover and blowing out the dust, I found a significant amount of old yellowish adhesive globbed under some components. The stuff was looking a little crusty and was covering the leads on some of the circuit board components.
I carefully removed as much of the old glue as I could and found that one of the leads on a diode was completely loose, Probably due to corrosion caused by the old yellow glue. Fortunately there was enough lead left to be resoldered back into place. So I gave it a try.
